Marvel Rivals promises a stellar hero shooter experience, as long as you don’t encounter any errors. That is the unfortunate reality of many online games – there will be issues seemingly out of nowhere. So if you’ve been struck with an error code or a connection problem like Thor bringing his hammer down, don’t fret. We’ll cover any errors that we find and offer possible solutions to fix them and get you back into action.

Error codes, bugs, crashes, and other issues in Marvel Rivals

Sadly, you can sometimes run into a few problems when you launch Marvel Rivals or even while playing the game. That sucks, but there can be ways to fix the problems. These are some of the most common errors and bugs you can encounter:

Low FPSGPU driver update, launcher cache
DX12 not supported errorWindows and GPU driver update issues, or corrupt files

Error Code 0xc0000005GPU driver issues

How to fix the 99% long loading screen bug

This error can occur due to a few possible factors. Mainly, it will happen if you have Marvel Rivals installed on an HDD instead of an SSD. However, it can also point to some of the game files being corrupted, or even possibly to a slow internet connection. Here’s how to troubleshoot and fix it:

  • Move Marvel Rivals to SSD: Fast-paced games like Marvel Rivals benefit from running on an SSD or M.2. If you have the game installed on a regular HDD, consider moving it to a faster drive. You can do it on Steam without having to reinstall, by going into Steam Settings, then Storage. Find Marvel Rivals on the drive and select “Move” with the SSD drive as the target.
  • Check your internet connection: It’s worth checking if it’s just slow internet that’s causing the long loading time. Check if your connection is working properly and if it isn’t, restart your router then try loading the game again.
  • Verify game files or reinstall the game: If none of the above helped, try verifying and repairing the game files first. This will fix any corrupt game files that were installed. Then, if that doesn’t work, try reinstalling the whole game.

How to fix the packet loss error and lower your ping

Spikey latency can cause packet loss and high ping, which is less than ideal for a multiplayer game like Marvel Rivals. You are most likely using suboptimal connection settings while playing the game, though it’s also possible that some background apps are causing the issue. Here’s what to look for to fix the problem:

  • Check the Network Diagnostics settings: To get the best experience, always try to play on the nearest servers. You can check that in the game by going to Settings and then clicking on Other. Select the Network Diagnostics option and run the check. This will show you the best servers to connect to for the lowest ping and minimal packet loss (if any).
  • Check your internet connection: Packet loss can come down to your internet connection not working properly. Check your internet speed and if needed, restart your router or contact your ISP. In addition, use a cable connection while playing online instead of wi-fi.
  • Close background apps: Some background apps can hog your internet speed. For example, they could be downloading or updating in the background, restricting your connectivity. If that’s the case, close them while playing the game. Don’t use a VPN either. Also, check that your firewall and anti-virus are allowing Marvel Rivals to connect through.

How to fix low FPS issues in Marvel Rivals

Some players have reported an issue that causes their FPS to drop significantly after launching the game, even though it has worked perfectly fine before. Trying to lower graphics settings didn’t help the matter, mainly because the issue seems to stem from corrupt or faulty files – either from Marvel Rivals or GPU drivers. Try these fixes to get rid of the issue:

  • Clear launcher cache: The most common solution for this error is to clear the game’s cache from the launcher. To do that, open the Marvel Rivals launcher and click on the icon on the bottom left. Select the “Clear local config files” option. Note that this process will also reset your audio and video settings, so you’ll have to reapply them when you start the game.
  • Update your GPU drivers: Some players have found that updating your graphics drivers can help solve the issue. Use your manufacturer’s platform to update the GPU drivers. For the best chance of success, we suggest that you do a clean install of those drivers.
  • Verify game files: Lastly, it’s possible that some files other than the cache are causing the error. To try to fix the issue, use your platform to verify and reinstall any necessary game files, then try launching the Marvel Rivals again.

How to fix the DirectX12 not supported error

This error has been confirmed to be related to either a Windows 10 update or GPU driver version dependency. However, some players have reported the error still appearing after the updates, so there are a few other possible culprits. Here’s what you can do:

  • Update Windows 10: The official solution is to update your OS to Windows 10 version v1909 or later. This promises to fix the problem for the majority of those experiencing it.
  • Update your GPU drivers: Another official statement suggested that players should make sure their GPUs are up to par, with Nvidia GTX 1060 or AMD RX 580 being the minimum. Even with that, some have found that updating your graphics drivers can help solve the issue. Use your manufacturer’s platform to update the GPU drivers and we suggest that you opt for a clean install option.
  • Verify game files: In case some of the installation files have been corrupted and thus causing the error, you should verify the game files. This will get rid of any files that lead to the DX12 issue.
  • Reinstall the game: If none of the above helped, try completely scrubbing the game and reinstalling it.

How to fix Error Code 10 in Marvel Rivals

Some players have experienced Error Code 10 when launching Marvel Rivals. This error is connected to network problems, most often from the user’s side. However, there’s a chance it’s a server-side error instead. You’ll have to troubleshoot to find out what is the case, with a few possible fixes depending on the cause:

  • Check your internet connection: Make sure that your connection is working properly. If it isn’t, restart your router then try loading the game again. If that didn’t help, contact your ISP to look into fixing it.
  • Check for game updates: You could be getting the error because your game isn’t updated. Restart the launcher and see if there’s an update that needs to be downloaded before playing.
  • Check server status: In some cases, this error will appear when the game servers are offline. Check the Marvel Rivals social media accounts to see if there’s any ongoing downtime. If that is the case, you’ll have to wait it out.
  • Restart the game: The oldest solution in the book – restarting the game will sometimes clear up any errors.

How to fix Error Code 220 in Marvel Rivals

Error Code 220 seems to appear due to problems causing server blocks when connecting to the game. This can happen due to third-party blockers being active in the background, or possibly incorrect DNS settings in your network. However, there hasn’t been an official fix for this problem so far. With that in mind, if you get this error, try some of these potential fixes:

  • Disable third-party server blockers: If you’re using third-party apps to block certain servers for online games, they could be clashing with Marvel Rivals. This can lead to Error Code 220 appearing. So, if you’re using those apps, disable them to be able to connect to Marvel Rivals servers.
  • Check your DNS settings: Your DNS settings could be preventing Marvel Rivals from connecting. Go to your router’s settings and check that your DNS is allowing the game’s connection to go through. Every router is different, depending on the manufacturer, so we suggest that you check the manual on which settings to use.
  • Check your firewall: It’s possible that your firewall is blocking Marvel Rivals as well. Make sure to add the game to the list of exceptions in the firewall settings, which should help clear the error.

How to fix Error Code 211 in Marvel Rivals

Error Code 211 tends to occur to Steam users far more than any others. It is related to connection issues with the servers either on Steam’s or Marvel Rivals’ side. In rare cases, some background applications can block your access when you try to launch the game. Try some of these potential fixes if you get this error:

  • Check server status: This error will often appear when the game servers or Steam servers are offline. Check the social media accounts to see if there’s any ongoing downtime. Remember that Steam servers go offline for a few hours on Tuesday every week. If the servers are down, you’ll have to wait it out.
  • Check your internet connection: Make sure that your internet connection is working properly. If it isn’t, first try restarting your router and try launching the game again. If that doesn’t help, contact your ISP to look into fixing it.
  • Disable third-party server blockers: If you’re using third-party apps to block servers for some online games, they are likely blocking Marvel Rivals. This often leads to Error Code 211. So, if you’re using those apps, disable them to be able to connect to Marvel Rivals servers.
  • Check your DNS settings: Your DNS settings could be preventing Marvel Rivals from connecting to the game’s servers. Go to your router’s settings and check that your DNS is allowing the game’s connection to go through. Every router is different, depending on the manufacturer, so we suggest that you check the manual on which settings to use.
  • Verify game files: Lastly, it’s possible that some files are causing the error. To make sure, verify the game files, then try launching the game again.

How to fix Error Code 270 in Marvel Rivals

Error Code 270 is related to connection issues with the Marvel Rivals servers. It seems that it most often happens around updates, so could be related to the launcher cache as well. Here’s what you can try to fix this error:

  • Check server status: This error may appear while servers are offline or under maintenance. Check the social media accounts to see if there’s any ongoing downtime. If that is the case and the servers are down, you’ll have to be patient.
  • Check your internet connection: Next, make sure that your internet connection is working. If it isn’t, first try restarting your router and then try launching the game again. If that doesn’t help, contact your ISP for a fix.
  • Clear launcher cache: If the problem stems from the Marvel Rivals launcher, then clearing the cache should resolve it. Close the game and go to the Marvel Rivals launcher. Then, open the Settings and find the Clear Cache button. Click it and wait for it to complete. Note that the game will load slower for the first launch after doing this.
  • Verify game files: In case some of the files have become corrupted and are causing the error, you should verify the game files. This process will reinstall the missing or corrupt game files and possibly clear the error.
  • Reinstall the game: If none of the above helped, try completely uninstalling the game and then reinstalling it.

How to fix Error Code 0xc0000005 in Marvel Rivals

If your graphics driver is out of date or corrupted, you’re likely to get Error 0xc0000005 when launching Marvel Rivals. This will lead to the game failing to launch or crashing, but there’s a few easy fixes you can try:

  • Update or reinstall your GPU drivers: Updating your graphics drivers can help solve this error. Use your manufacturer’s platform to update the GPU drivers. We suggest that you opt for a clean install option. If your drivers are already up to date, you can try reinstalling them to see if that clears the error.
  • Roll back your GPU driver: If the issue persists, you can try rolling back your driver to a state which worked before. To do that, go to Device Manager and find your Display Adapter. Right-click it and select Properties, then head to the Driver tab. Click the Rollback Driver button to return it to a previous version and try launching the game again.
