- To upgrade a burgage plot to level 2, you’ll need to meet the residential requirements to level up as listed when you click on a burgage plot.
- These cover both amenities like church access and market supply, including food, fuel, and clothing.
While you can have your settlers live in squalor in lowly level 1 burgage plots, you’ll eventually want to upgrade your burgage plots for two main reasons. The first is that higher level burgage plots unlock access to artisan extensions like the Cobbler’s Workshop, Brewery, Bakery and Tailor’s shop, giving you the option to produce more valuable commodities and food like shoes and ale. The second reason is that increasing your settlement level, and by extension unlocking handy Developments Points for research and upgrades and getting access to a Manor, is contingent on having a specific number of different level houses.
In other words, not upgrading your burgage plots stunts your progress in Manor Lords. As with most aspects of Slavic Magic’s complex feudal city builder, upgrading your burgage plots is easier said than done. We’ll walk you through how to kick them up to both level 2 and level 3.
How to upgrade burgage plots to level 2
To upgrade a burgage plot to level 2, you’ll need to meet the residential requirements to level up as listed when you click on a burgage plot. These cover both amenities – essentially access to buildings – and market supply, specifically fuel, food, and clothing. Once the requirements are met, tap on the burgage plot then click on the house icon upgrade button near the top. The upgrade to level 2 costs x4 Timber per burgage plot.
Here’s a list of the residential requirements for a level 2 burgage plot:
Requirement | Description |
---|---|
Water access | Build one well on top of underground water (use the overlay to check) in your settlement’s region. |
Church level | Build a Wooden Church in your settlement’s region. |
Fuel stall supply | Fuel marketplace stall stocked with one type of Fuel, either Firewood or Charcoal. |
Food stall supply | Food market stall stocked with two different types of food – berries, meat, bread, vegetables, eggs, honey, and apples. |
Clothing stall supply | Clothing stall stocked with one type of clothing – Leather, Yarn, or Linen. |
How to upgrade burgage plots to level 3
Upgrading a burgage plot to level 3 follows the same meet-the-requirements format, except you’ll need to have a burgage plot already upgraded to level 2. Upgrading a level 2 burgage plot to level 3 costs x25 Regional Wealth, x4 Timber, x8 Planks, and x4 Roof Tiles.
You’ll need to meet these requirements to unlock the level 3 upgrade:
Requirement | Description |
---|---|
Water access | Build one well on top of underground water (use the overlay to check) in your settlement’s region. |
Church level | Small Stone Church, an upgrade to the Wooden Church costing x5 Timber, x20 Stones, x10 Planks, x10 Roof Tiles. |
Tavern supply | Tavern built in your region and stocked with a supply of ale. |
Fuel stall supply | Fuel marketplace stall stocked with one type of Fuel, either Firewood or Charcoal. |
Food stall supply | Food market stall stocked with three different types of food – berries, meat, bread, vegetables, eggs, honey, and apples. |
Clothing stall supply | Clothing stall stocked with two different types of clothing – one basic (Leather, Yarn, or Linen) and one finished product (Clothes, Cloaks, or Shoes). |
How to upgrade burgage plot extensions
Aside from leveling up burgage plots, you can also equip them with extensions to produce specific types of food and goods. Whether a burgage plot can have a backyard extension depends on its size. When plotting out a burgage plot before building it, make sure you make it large enough that a second, smaller tool-and-roof icon appears where the backyard would be. Not to be confused with the house with a plus symbol icon that appears when a burgage plot is large enough for a living space expansion and a second house.
To upgrade a burgage plot with a backyard extension, tap on a constructed burgage plot of any level, then on the hammer symbol at the top to see a list of all the available extensions at the house’s current level. Not all extensions are available at level 1, though:
- Level 1 burgage plot – Vegetable Garden, Chicken Coop, and Goat Shed
- Level 2 burgage plot – Blacksmith, Brewery, Cobbler, Tailor, Joiner, Fletcher, Bakery (with the Bakeries Development unlocked), and Armorer (with the Basic Armormaking Development unlocked).
Extensions cost different amounts of Regional Wealth and Planks to upgrade, for example a Chicken Coop is x25 Regional Wealth, while a Brewery Extension is x5 Regional Wealth and x5 Planks. Note that any of the level 2 Extensions will turn inhabiting families into Artisans, removing them from your settlement’s worker pool indefinitely so they can’t do any other type of job.
