How do you spot mimic items in Lords of the Fallen? Lords of the Fallen wouldn’t be a souls-like game without there being mimics. These powerful Umbral monsters take the form of fake items similar to how Mimics in Dark Souls take the shape of chests.
Luckily, there is a way to spot the difference between a fake item and a normal item in the game. LotF can be a bit of a tricky game so you will need to combat these tricks by using caution. It helps if you know how to upgrade your Sanguinarix so you can stay alive after getting attacked.
Playing online with a friend is useful for taking down difficult bosses like the Spurned Progeny. Said friend can also help you spot threats like a mimic. So how do you spot these dangerous foes? This guide will show you how to spot mimic items in Lords of the Fallen.
How to spot mimics in Lords of the Fallen
To spot a mimic in Lords of the Fallen, look at the item’s tail – the wispy part that trails above the item orb. Regular items will have a tail that sticks straight up and sways slightly every few seconds. This is a safe item.
A mimic, on the other hand, has a little tail that bends dramatically when the wind blows. Pay attention to when the tail sways in the breeze. If the sway is very dramatic and bends beyond about 10 degrees, you have a mimic on your hands. Unfortunately, you can’t just use the Umbral Lamp to spot the mimic either.
There is more trickery to be had here. If you die, the mimic will possibly move to somewhere else in the general area. Because of this, you will want to always pay attention to each item’s tail. These well-laid traps aren’t consistently in the same location as in other soulslike games.
Did you know?
There are no mimic chests in Lords of the Fallen. You can open up any chest without worrying about getting attacked by one of these Umbral monsters.
What are mimics in Lords of the Fallen?
Mimics are a type of enemy that likes to take the shape of items in the world. This type of tricky foe can throw you off if you aren’t careful. If you touch a mimic item, the giant Umbral enemy will rip its way through the fabric of reality to attack you.
If you survive a mimic attack, it will pull you into the Umbral Realm. Most mimic attacks will leave you with little health or force you into making a corpse run by sprinting your way back to your death location.
