The Jagged Alliance 3 Boss Blaubert quest is one of the most interesting in THQ Nordic’s and Haemimont Games’ newest entry into the series. It’s also one of the most rewarding. If you’re looking for the best melee weapon in the game, this is the quest for you.

We’ll take you through the Jagged Alliance 3 Boss Blaubert quest step-by-step, and how you can get the best melee weapon in Jagged Alliance 3 from completing it. Where to find Boss Blaubert

To begin the quest, you need to speak with Boss Blaubert in Rimville, located in sector I9. This is just south of Fleatown. At the Fleatown market, just south of the stalls, you can find Lalee Leewaylender. He’s a subordinate of Blaubert, and you’ll want to speak with him first to build a reputation and get an invitation to the boss’ estate. Once you head to I9, you’ll find Blaubert standing outside by the pool of his home.

Starting Boss Blaubert’s quest

Approach Boss Blaubert and speak to him. He’ll introduce himself in a cordial, professional manner. As you follow through his dialogue, he’ll explain that he’s heard of you, and that he has a favour to ask. Do make sure that you haven’t completed Smiley’s quest and sided against Blaubert before hand though, as you’ll be unable to do this following mission.

This favour is what properly begins the side quest Right Hand Man. Blaubert will explain that his right hand, Luigi, who handles day-to-day diamond sales on the black market, has been arrested. Luigi was taken to a prison complex called The Good Place. He wants you to rescue Luigi from this prison, and bring his right hand back to him. With the prison under Legion control however, this effectively means that your squad will need to liberate The Good Place through force. It’s a difficult mission, so make sure you’ve got a strong roster of mercs with enough versatility to exploit opponent weaknesses. Even the best starting mercs will do so long as you’ve sufficiently armed them and kept the team flexible.

You’ll be able to find The Good Place down on the opposite side of the river, in L6. To get there, you’ll need to either pass through Port Cacao and the area surrounding it, or land without a way back across.

The Good Place

The Good Place is poorly named, as there is little good about it. This prison complex is one of the toughest areas in the game, and the ensuing fight can be brutal. You’ll face a number of enemies wielding powerful weapons. They will all do massive damage when hitting your mercs. You’ll also need to take down the prison Warden, a man named Jackhammer.

When tackling this fight, we encourage you to take your time preparing and make the best of your resourcefulness. Make sure your chosen mercenaries are well armed and armoured, with plenty of ammunition and healing items.

When approaching The Good Place, you’ll find you’re able to traverse around much of the complex. So long as your sneaking, attacking from the left, right, or rear are all valid options, and easier than a frontal assault.

Stealth kills are a hugely advantageous approach. You’ll find a major concentration of enemies in the central building, while many more patrol around the rest of the complex. Taking down some, most or all of the patrolling enemies through stealth will massively alleviate the challenge ahead.

Once you begin combat in earnest, make sure to utilise your healers proficiently. If you’re splitting mercs up into smaller groups for flanking manoeuvres, we’d advise that you make sure each subdivision has at least one capable healer.

Explosives are another good approach to consider. Indoors, you’ll find that the confined nature of the spaces work to your advantage when utilising grenades. This is especially important as Jackhammer hits like, well, a Jackhammer. His shotgun will shred through mercs easily, so weakening him with frag grenades and pipe bombs, and blinding him with tear gas to stop him moving out of the way of said bombs, is a winning strategy.

Finding Luigi and getting the best melee weapon

Once you clear out The Good Place, head to the underground section. You’ll find Luigi down here, and be able to set him free once you’ve cleared the few remaining guards. He and his bodyguard will head off to kill Blaubert once free. You can stick around here to free innocent prisoners if you want, and this will earn you some extra reputation in the area.

Head back to Boss Blaubert’s mansion and you’ll find a standoff in progress. It’s up to you which side you go with, but if you want Jagged Alliance 3’s best melee weapon, you’ll need to side with the Boss against Luigi. Help defeat Luigi and his bodyguard, and Blaubert will thank you. For the best reward though, go over to Luigi’s bodyguard and loot the body. He’ll have a melee weapon on him called The Thing.

The Thing is a machete, and the best melee weapon in the game. It has the best strength scaling of any melee weapon. Equip it to a high strength, high dexterity merc, and you’ll be able to unleash truly devastating close-quarters attacks against your foes.
