Fancy diving into the legendary archeologist’s latest globetrotting adventure alongside a friend for some co-op mystery unravelling? Or, possibly taking on other players in multiplayer? Unfortunately, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle offers neither, instead focusing on delivering a AAA narrative-driven game that taps into Indy’s rich and much-loved cinematic legacy. In this guide, we’ll do a quick runthrough of how Indiana Jones and the Great Circle eschews multiplayer and co-op to in favour of a single player experience.
Can you play Indiana Jones and the Great Circle in co-op or multiplayer
No, ever since its official reveal Indiana Jones and the Great Circle has been billed as an on-rails single player game that aims to provide a narrative-heavy cinematic action-adventure experience. At launch, the game won’t feature any multiplayer modes nor is there the possibility to experience the story alongside a pal in co-op.
Though the game adopts a first-person view (along with the occasional switch to third-person), it’s far from falling into the category of a shooter that would lend itself well to bouts of multiplayer deathmatch or the like. It’s one for the lone wolves out there wanting to take on the role of the famed professor alone and play through a story sure to feature many twists and turns.
While developer MachineGames and publisher Bethesda haven’t officially confirmed that any multiplayer or co-op component isn’t coming to the game post-release, it’s safe to assume that is the case given the heavy emphasis in marketing material on this being through-and-through a single player game.
With Indiana Jones and the Great Circle releasing on both Xbox and PC (then PS5 later down the line), there’s always the possibility that modders will weave together some sort of multiplayer mod, but again this won’t exist in any official capacity and is far from guaranteed. If it does happen, it’s likely the closest we’ll get to multiplayer.
