A composter is a block added in the Minecraft 1.14 Villagers & Pillagers update. Besides working as a  job site block for the farmer villagers, it can also be used for farming purposes. Let’s see how to make a composter in Minecraft!

Two steps to make a Composter in Minecraft

#1 Obtain 7 Wooden Slabs (Any Wood Type)

To be clear, you only need 7 wooden slabs in total, no matter what wood type of the slabs is. For example, you can use 2 oak slabs, 2 spruce slabs, and 3 birch slabs and it still works for this recipe.

To obtain wooden slabs, you must gather wood or log to craft planks. Then use the crafting table and put the planks in a row like below to craft 6 slabs of that wood type.

You can also find wooden slabs spawning naturally in generated structures like igloos, woodland mansions, pillager outposts, villages, and shipwrecks.

#2 Craft a Composter

When you have a total of 7 wooden slabs, right-click on a crafting table and place the slabs in the U shape to craft a composter.

You can place it near the villagers to turn them into farmers. Or you can put food and crop items into it to create bone meals.
