One of Fortnite’s distinguishing aspects is its broad arsenal of weapons, which provides players with a wide selection of options for dominating the island. From precision sniper rifles to destructive rocket launchers, Fortnite has also dabbled with melee weapons, providing another layer of strategy and flair to combat.
Over time, iconic weapons such as the Infinity Blade, Lightsabers, and Shockwave Hammer have made their imprint on the game. Among those, the Kinetic Blade stands out as a fan favorite. It was introduced in Chapter 4 Season 2, and its smooth slicing strikes and dash ability made it both a lethal weapon and a useful mobility tool.
In Chapter 6 Season 1, the Kinetic Blade returns to the Fortnite island, fitting in well with the season’s Japanese-inspired theme, and here’s how you can get it in the game.
Where to get Kinetic Blade in Fortnite
Kinetic Blade can easily be found in loot chests, floor loot, and even on Katana Stands on the Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 1 island. Just like the Typhoon Blade is placed across the island, you’ll be able to find several spots where you can grab a Kinetic Blade quite easily.
The map above shows all the Katana Stands where you can find the Kinetic Blade and the Typhoon Blade. However, the former Chapter 4 sword works quite differently to the new Typhoon Blade.
How to use Kinetic Blade
The Kinetic Blade stands out as a deadly melee weapon, boasting two primary attacks that players will want to master. The Knockback Slash delivers a solid 35 damage while sending enemies flying, creating space for strategic maneuvers. Meanwhile, the Dash Attack allows players to charge forward, inflicting a hefty 60 damage, with the added benefit of having three charges and a manageable 10-second cooldown.
However, the Kinetic Blade now features a Durability meter, similar to that of the Typhoon Blade, and takes a hit of 5% with every Dash Attack and drops by 1% for each Knockback Slash landed. This feature was criticized by players who suggested Epic keep the weapon and item durability restricted to LEGO Fortnite mode where it makes the most sense.
