Slowpoke is a classic Water/Psychic-type Pokémon from Gen 1. It has always been fairly popular due to its design and relevance in the competitive meta. Unlike most Pokémon, Slowpoke has 2 evolution paths it can take, and it can either evolve into Slowbro or Slowking. Both evolutions have different requirements, and today we will be looking at how you can obtain them in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

Where to Catch Slowpoke in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet?

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet Slowpoke

Before we get to evolution, we need to actually catch ourselves a Slowpoke. Luckily, Slowpoke is not a very difficult Pokémon to find and catch in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

A popular Slowpoke spawn location is the land overlooking Casseroya Lake. You can teleport to Casseroya Watchtower 1, 2, or 3 and you will most likely find a large number of Slowpoke scattered in the grassy land between the towers. Another early location to capture Slowpoke is the South of Mesagoza Academy.

Defeating and capturing a Slowpoke is not a very difficult task either, as it won’t put up much of a fight. Slowpoke does not run away, and you can make use of Net Balls or Dive Balls to increase your chances.

How to Evolve Slowpoke into Slowbro in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet?

Slowbro is the first evolution option for Slowpoke, and this one is fairly simple and straightforward. All you need to do is level your captured Slowpoke up to Level 37, which will let it evolve into Slowbro unless you stop this with an Everstone or press cancel. To speed up the leveling process, you can follow our guide on the fastest leveling methods in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

How to Evolve Slowpoke into Slowking in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet?

This method is a bit trickier than the first one as it requires you to trade your Slowpoke with another player while holding a specific item. You will need an internet connection and a Nintendo account to make sure you can partake in trades. You also need the King’s Rock, which can be purchased at the Delibird Presents Mesagoza Branch for ₽10,000.

Once you have all of the above items, you must equip the King’s Rock to Slowpoke and send it for trade. It will then evolve into Slowking once the trade has been finished, and ideally, you can trade your own Slowpoke with another Slowpoke holding a King’s Rock.

If you care about raising it competitively, make sure you trade a Slowpoke with the correct nature.

Final Thoughts

Slowpoke is a dopey Pokémon, but its evolutions, Slowbro and Slowking, are quite powerful and see a lot of competitive use. The evolutions can be completed by either leveling Slowpoke to level 37 or trading it while holding a King’s Rock.
