Epic Games has released a massive update for Fortnite, including a Godzilla collaboration that has fans buzzing with excitement. The King of Monsters is not only making a mere appearance, but he is also a playable skin and a fearsome boss. The Chapter 6 Season 1 Battle Pass allows players to embody the iconic kaiju, with the Godzilla Evolved skin unlocking after completing some special quests. Along with Godzilla, the island also features Kong and Mechagodzilla as new skins in the Item Shop. However, fighting Godzilla as a boss is no easy task. Players must plan their strategy during a Fortnite Battle Royale match to survive Godzilla’s monstrous attacks and enormous size. If you want to go head-to-head against the king of monsters, here’s how to defeat him.
Where to find Godzilla on the Fortnite map
In the latest Godzilla update in Fortnite, a portal will appear at a random location during a Battle Royale or Zero Build match, where the first player who enters it will transform into a giant-sized monster. The spawn rate of this portal is quite slim across matches, similar to what happened with Doom Island in Chapter 5 Season 4.
However, as soon as Godzilla spawns on the island, you’ll see a Godzilla icon on the mini-map which will pinpoint the exact location the monster is roaming at. As soon as you have its location, you can head towards it alone or take a teammate along to assist you.
How to defeat Godzilla boss
Before you head to Godzilla’s location, it’s better to have some good weaponry in your inventory. While melee weapons like the Kinetic Blade and Typhoon Blade won’t come much use, it’s best to resort to Mid-Range or Long-Range weapons.
The weapon that excels in this scenario is the newly added Rail Gun. You can claim the Legendary rarity of that weapon using the Monarch Supply Drops that will drop on the island throughout the match. By claiming that supply drop, you can also get your hands on an Epic Quad Launcher, 2 Air Strike Grenades, 25 Rocket Ammo, and 50 Heavy Ammo, all of which are perfect to eliminate Godzilla.
Here’s the most optimal loadout to battle Godzilla in this scenario:
- Slot 1: Legendary Rail Gun
- Slot 2: Epic Quad Launcher
- Slot 3: Air Strike Grenades
- Slot 4: Med Kit/Shield Potion/Shield Bubble Jr.
- Slot 5: Typhoon Blade/Kinetic Blade
Once you’re fully armed, take the high ground and aim for Godzilla’s weak spots to deal extra damage and knock off Godzilla’s Fragments, which you can consume to gain 40 Health and 3 dash charges. But beware of Godzilla’s deadly abilities which can eliminate you in seconds if you’re not careful.
Godzilla’s Roar ability will reveal you or any enemies nearby to the monster, his Heat Ray can decimate structures and any players in its path and his Mighty Stomp Attack can send you flying across the island which can instantly eliminate you. In this case, it’s best to carry a Typhoon Blade or a Kinetic Blade that can save you from fall damage.
Furthermore, make sure to use natural cover when fighting Godzilla. Since his abilities are so destructive, you won’t last long if you use structures for your cover. Due to this, you need to find an indestructible cover, such as a hill, and hide behind it.
How to get Godzilla Medallion and Exotic Burst Quad Launcher
While Godzilla’s presence on the Fortnite island would be massive, expect the entire lobby to try and take down the kaiju with all their firepower. So if need be, eliminate any opponents fighting Godzilla to take the fight with the beast alone.
The player who deals the most damage to Godzilla will be rewarded with the Godzilla Medallion, which gives a recharging dash ability (up to three charges at a time), as well as the exotic Burst Quad Launcher. But beware, once you’ve got the medallion your location will be revealed on the mini-map which will leave you vulnerable to any enemy attacks. So watch your back, rally your team, and slay the beast with all your might.
