Luckily it is insanely easy to not only cancel your order within the Microsoft Store but if you somehow only cancel it after being charged there are options to help you get your money back.
Microsoft’s Cancelation Policy
If you have account credit to pay for the game you are planning to pre order, the balance will be taken immediately. However, if you used a credit card or if you have split payments between a credit card and account balance, you will be charged roughly 10 days before the game launches.
This means that if you are using a credit card to pay you have until 10 days before the game releases to cancel it and it will be of no cost to you as the consumer. This is wonderful if you decide you no longer want the game.
If you have an account balance that is less than the amount needed to pay for the game, the remainder will be taken from your credit card. You will also receive an email giving your billing information and confirming that the payment was successful.
How To Cancel Your Pre Order
In order to cancel a pre order on Xbox, you will need to take 4 steps to make sure that it is done. This can be done before you have been charged for the items in your Microsoft Store.
- Go to your Order history and fine the item you want to cancel the pre order to
- Select Cancel item next to the item you want to cancel (if you do not see this option, you have already been charged but you can request an exchange or refund)
- Select the check box next to the item and then select the Cancel item button
- Check your email inbox for confirmation that the order has been canceled. (Check spam or junk mail folder if it hasn’t arrived within a couple of minutes)
