After storming through an action-packed setup, the sorting ceremony is one of the first things you’ll do in Hogwarts Legacy. During the ceremony, the sorting hat will ask several questions to determine which house you’re more suited to join. There are four houses – Gryffindor House, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin – each with its own characteristics, common rooms, and even unique quests.

How to Get Sorted in Hogwarts Legacy
The sorting ceremony is an unmissable story event in Hogwarts Legacy, with no particular steps to follow. Simply play the game until you reach Hogwarts for the first time, and the ceremony will start automatically.
Though the sorting hat plays a role in the ceremony, it is purely for show. You can choose your own house regardless of what house the sorting hat suggests. You can give any answer (whether you prefer exploration or being studious, and whether you’re daring, curious, or brave) and still get the house of your choice.
How to Choose a Different House
After answering the sorting questions, the hat will share its house recommendation. At this point, select the Choose a Different House option at the bottom of the screen (press square on PlayStation 5).
Doing so takes you to another screen where you can select from one of the four available houses. Hove the house of your choice and choose the Select option (X on PlayStation 5).

Gryffindor – Gryffindor house, known for daring, bravery, and chivalry.
