This Helldivers 2 Warbond is all about fire and flame, and every aspect reflects this. Freedom’s Flame is all about spreading fiery death to enemies of humanity, and even the cosmetic options boast a bright orange tint. However, don’t get too excited, it’s actually one of the weaker Warbonds in the game, with just a couple of notable items. Let’s go through to see what’s actually worth your hard-earned medals.
Best Items in Freedom’s Flame Warbond
1. I-09 Heatseeker (and honourable mention: I-102 Draconaught Armour)
- Cost: 18 Medals on page 1
- Armor rating: 50
- Speed: 550
- Stamina regen: 125
- Perk: Inflammable – Provides 75% damage resistance to fire, allowing bearer to rest assured in their inflammability.
After months and months of pleading, we finally got it. Both Heatseeker and Draconaught Armour reduce the damage you get from flames of any kind. At last, you can safely traverse the surface of Hellmire and similar planets, without worrying that a single misstep can result in a well-cooked Helldiver.
2. P-72 Crisper
- Cost: 45 Medals on page 3
- Damage: 250
- Capacity: 30
- Recoil: 3
- Perks: Medium armour penetrating, Incendiary, One handed
Having a Flamethrower, especially versus Terminids, can be almost mandatory. The problem arises when you have to sacrifice a Support or Primary Weapon slot for it. Not anymore. The Crisper is a hand-flamer Secondary, granting you the ability to set hordes of bugs on fire, while also leaving your Primary and Support slots free for heavier weapons. So, is it any good? Well, it sits in the middle-of-the-pack in our best weapons tier list, so it’s far from essential.
3. Firebomb Hellpods
- Cost: 60 Medals on page 3
- Effect: Lines all Hellpods with volatile incendiaries that detonate upon impact, igniting any units in vicinity of the drop site.
It is a fact that Helldivers perish during their missions and new ones arrive via Hellpods. However, experienced players use those dropping Hellpods as a weapon, aiming to fall on heavier targets, like Bile Titans or Tanks. Now, with the Firebomb Hellpods booster, those falling Hellpods will deal greater damage in an area, ensuring that anything below them will meet a flaming demise. These are probably the only real reason why you consider this Warbond.
4. FLAM-66 Torcher
- Cost: 40 Medals on page 2
- Damage: 250
- Capacity: 80
- Recoil 3
- Perks: Medium armour penetrating, Incendiary
You can now have a flamethrower as a Primary Weapon. No longer will you have to weigh your Support Weapon options – with Torcher you are free to take an anti-tank weapon while retaining the ability to spread flaming Democracy to the hordes of bugs. However, Torcher’s downside is its fairly limited range, so it’s not close to one of the best primary weapons.
5. SG-451 Cookout
- Cost: 20 Medals on page 1
- Damage: 320
- Capacity: 16
- Recoil: 100
- Fire rate: 80
- Perks: Light armour penetrating, Rounds reload, Incendiary
The Cookout is essentially a flaming Punisher. If the high single-target damage is not enough, anything that survives it will be set ablaze. The flip side is that Cookout is not as great against hordes as other weapons from this Warbond are, so you’ll have to rely on others to deal with waves. Again, you’re looking at a pretty solid B-tier weapon, so not essential, but may be worth a try.
