Fallout London has a unique health hazard for players to watch out for. This miasma will give the players health hazards to avoid, and if they stay in it too long, they’ll become sick and die. However, there’s a way around it, especially in the main storyline. Here’s how to avoid tunnel cough in Fallout London.
How to manage tunnel cough in Fallout London
To manage and cure tunnel cough, players need to have a gas mask on them. This has to be a working gas mask and not the broken ones you can get from Hooligans and other enemies around the city.
Instead, you can get a proper one during the main storyline. As part of the main quest, you’ll eventually deal with the Tommies, who are a faction based in the Imperial War Museum on the western side of the city. You’ll visit the Tommies as part of the main story quest while investigating the Lazarus character and he tells you about Hackney, Islington, and Tunnel Cough.
How to get a Gas Mask in Fallout London
While at the Imperial War Museum, you’ll need to do a quest for the Tommies, and, in exchange, you’ll get a gas mask. This will allow you to progress the tunnel cough areas located in the northeast corner of the map. More importantly, you’ll need it as the main story areas to come are rammed with tunnel cough hazards.
If you have already been to these areas without it, you’ll start getting tunnel cough. Simply equipping the gas mask should remove the affliction shortly thereafter. Without it, you’ll keep your tunnel cough. You can now safely move through Hackney, Islington, the main story quest tunnels, and the hospitals and train stations in the north of the map blighted by tunnel cough.
Tunnel cough mod
If, however, you have contracted tunnel cough without progressing the main story, you’re in trouble. The illness is permanent and will randomly kill you. If you’re caught out like this, there’s a way to make it more manageable. There’s a mod you can download from Nexusmods. It is designed to make tunnel cough a timed disease rather than a permanent illness that randomly kills you. Use this to make it easier to manage.
If you need to get rid of it entirely, you can run these console commands:
- Type in “help cough 4”.
- Find value for SPEL: (VALUE) ‘Tunnel Cough’
- Now type in: player.removeSpell Value. Value is the numbers you were given from the previous command.
- If your value gives you xx at the start, then type in 07 as that seems to resolve some console command scripts not entirely firing.
