Epic Games has released hundreds of free cosmetics in Fortnite over the past few years. While players are mostly interested in skins, the game developer released many back blings, gliders, pickaxes, and other cosmetics. This is the case in the Remix season, as you can unlock several items for free, including the De-Rezz De-stroyer pickaxe.
In this guide, we will take a look at how to unlock the free Fortnite pickaxe. The entire process is straightforward, although you may need to wait for the reward to get to your locker.
Can you get a free item by winning a Fortnite Reload match?
When the Fortnite Remix season came out, there were rumors about free cosmetics in the Reload mode. However, no one has earned them yet. Due to this, many players believe that the rumor is false, which isn’t exactly the case. You can unlock a free pickaxe by winning a Fortnite Reload match this season, and that is the De-Rezz De-stroyer pickaxe.
To get the pickaxe, simply get into Fortnite Reload and win the game. You can choose either the regular or Zero Build version. Additionally, the free cosmetic item is available in all playlists, including the newly added Solo playlist.
Unfortunately, you won’t receive the free Fortnite pickaxe right away. As iFireMonkey, a reputable Fortnite leaker revealed, Epic Games hasn’t set up the reward properly yet. However, we expect this to be fixed in the next update, which should arrive in the third week of the Remix season. If you win a game now, you should receive the pickaxe once Epic fixes the issue.
You can also unlock the Golden Scythe Pickaxe for free by simply earning XP. Later in the season, the Fortnite creator will release the Juice WRLD skin, which will also be free.
