Fortnite has finally concluded its most anticipated Marvel live event featuring Doctor Doom. The event was full of surprises and elements that threw the entire player community off guard and brought in around 5 million players to Fortnite to experience the one-off rare event.
The Doctor Doom live event took place at 2 PM ET on October 5, in a normal Battle Royale or Zero Build matchmaking lobby as players were expecting a separate playlist, but unfortunately that wasn’t the case.
If you were one of the unlucky ones to miss the Chapter 5 Season 4 mid-season Marvel event, here’s the entire recap with the sequence of events.
Fortnite Marvel Doctor Doom live event recap
The live event began with five Rift Beacons being activated near Restored Reels and the countdown timer. As soon as the beacons were activated, they emitted a red light until the timer ran zero, towards the top of the chimney tower at Doom’s Castle.
Once the timer was finished, the beacons fired rift energy at the chimney to send Doom back to his reality 616, which is also the universe of Marvel characters. However, Doom was able to throw away the beacons and break free as an actual Giant Boss on the map.
Before that, a two minute cinematic sequence showed Doom walking over characters and obliterating them, before Hope punches him in the face using Captain America’s shield. Once he retreats back, he spawns on the island like a giant.
Doom now was the size of the Storm King from Fortnite Chapter 2 and had insane amounts of health. Players were required to shoot at him using whatever weapons they had to bring his health down to zero. Now this was a community effort, which meant as many players will shoot at him and lower his health bars, his progress would be cross shared with everyone playing the event.
In case you didn’t have good loot or were running out of ammo, Hope was rifting in ammo boxes and Avengers and Stark chests from time to time for you to acquire some mythic weapons from.
Was Doctor Doom defeated?
While Doom’s health bars were surmounting upto 1 Million HP, Fortnite players together were able to defeat the giant boss in under 30 minutes. This was done with a community effort, thanks to players who were raining fire upon Doom in their own matchmaking lobbies.
Plus, as soon as his health bar went low, Hope activated the last surviving Rift Beacon that rifted Doom back to reality-616 and left behind his mask on the ground. Hence, it is safe to say that Doom is definitely defeated and is unlikely to return.
As soon as the event came to an end, players were able to spot broken Rift Beacons spread across the island in the following POIs:
- Grand Glacier
- Restored Reels
- Brawler’s Battleground
Each of these locations have broken Rift Beacons which have brought in a Fortnitemares reality with vines and pumpkins spreading across the area. These elements add to the decor of Fortnite’s upcoming Halloween update.
Furthermore, it is also currently rumored that Mephisto will be the main antagonist of the ongoing Fortnite season lore and will propel players to Chapter 2 OG on November 2nd.
