The nine Deathroots in Elden Ring are found at:

  • Summonwater Village
  • Deathtouched Catacombs
  • Outside Carian Study Hall
  • Black Knife Catacombs
  • Wyndham Ruins
  • Gelmir Hero’s Grave
  • Giants’ Mountaintops Catacombs
  • South of Castle Sol
  • Hidden Path to the Haligtree

There are plenty of items to collect in Elden Ring, but one of the more interesting ones is Deathroot. There aren’t many of them, and even the easiest ones to get require some effort, but if you want to get your hands on some powerful Bestial Incantations, then you’re going to need to collect them all.

We’ve put together a list of every Deathroot, its location, and what you need to do to obtain it. If you’re looking for that last one, you can tick off the ones you’ve already got off our list to see which ones you still have left. Let’s get into it.

All Elden Ring Deathroot locations

In total, there are eight Deathroots to be found across the Lands Between, though each of them will require you to either defeat a miniboss or complete a dungeon to reach. Here is a list of every Deathroot’s location in Elden Ring:

2Deathtouched CatacombsLimgraveDefeat the Black Knife Assassin and open a chest
3Outside Carian Study HallLiurnia of the LakesDefeat the Tibia Mariner

8South of Castle SolMountaintops of the GiantsDefeat the Tibia Mariner
9Hidden Path to the HaligtreeMountaintops of the GiantsDefeat the Stray Mimic and open a chest (More details below)

Most of these are fairly simple – defeat a miniboss or make your way through a dungeon and then defeat a miniboss. The only one that’s fairly hard is the one in the Hidden Path to the Haligtree. To find this, start at the Site of Grace. Drop down from the broken railing onto an invisible walkway. Drop Rainbow Stones to light your way and follow the path until you reach the Stray Mimic fight.

Elden Ring Deathroot uses

Once you’ve got yourself at least one Deathroot, likely from the Summonwater Village Tibia Mariner, head to Roundtable Hold and talk to D, Hunter of the Dead, who will be sat at the table. He’ll mark a location on your map in East Limgrave. Head here and take the portal to the Bestial Sanctum in Dragonbarrow and talk to Gurranq.

Gurranq will reward you for each Deathroot you bring him. There are no other uses for Deathroot than this, so don’t be afraid to give him everything you’ve got. The first time you give him one, you’ll get the Beast Eye, a key item that tells you when Deathroot is nearby. Aside from that, you’ll get a bunch of Incantations and a couple of other nifty bits and pieces.
