There are plenty of items to collect in Elden Ring, but one of the more interesting ones is Deathroot. There aren’t many of them, and even the easiest ones to get require some effort, but if you want to get your hands on some powerful Bestial Incantations, then you’re going to need to collect them all.
We’ve put together a list of every Deathroot, its location, and what you need to do to obtain it. If you’re looking for that last one, you can tick off the ones you’ve already got off our list to see which ones you still have left. Let’s get into it.
All Elden Ring Deathroot locations
In total, there are eight Deathroots to be found across the Lands Between, though each of them will require you to either defeat a miniboss or complete a dungeon to reach. Here is a list of every Deathroot’s location in Elden Ring:
Number | Location | Region | How to get |
---|---|---|---|
1 | Summonwater Village | Limgrave | Defeat the Tibia Mariner |
2 | Deathtouched Catacombs | Limgrave | Defeat the Black Knife Assassin and open a chest |
3 | Outside Carian Study Hall | Liurnia of the Lakes | Defeat the Tibia Mariner |
4 | Black Knife Catacombs | Liurnia of the Lakes | Defeat the Cemetery Shade and open a chest |
5 | Wyndham Ruins | Altus Plateau | Defeat the Tibia Mariner |
6 | Gelmir Hero’s Grave | Altus Plateau | Defeat the Red Wolf of the Champion |
7 | Giants’ Mountaintops Catacombs | Mountaintops of the Giants | Defeat the Ulcerated Tree Spirit and open a chest |
8 | South of Castle Sol | Mountaintops of the Giants | Defeat the Tibia Mariner |
9 | Hidden Path to the Haligtree | Mountaintops of the Giants | Defeat the Stray Mimic and open a chest (More details below) |
Most of these are fairly simple – defeat a miniboss or make your way through a dungeon and then defeat a miniboss. The only one that’s fairly hard is the one in the Hidden Path to the Haligtree. To find this, start at the Site of Grace. Drop down from the broken railing onto an invisible walkway. Drop Rainbow Stones to light your way and follow the path until you reach the Stray Mimic fight.
Elden Ring Deathroot uses
Once you’ve got yourself at least one Deathroot, likely from the Summonwater Village Tibia Mariner, head to Roundtable Hold and talk to D, Hunter of the Dead, who will be sat at the table. He’ll mark a location on your map in East Limgrave. Head here and take the portal to the Bestial Sanctum in Dragonbarrow and talk to Gurranq.
Gurranq will reward you for each Deathroot you bring him. There are no other uses for Deathroot than this, so don’t be afraid to give him everything you’ve got. The first time you give him one, you’ll get the Beast Eye, a key item that tells you when Deathroot is nearby. Aside from that, you’ll get a bunch of Incantations and a couple of other nifty bits and pieces.
All Deathroot rewards
You’ll get plenty of rewards if you collect all of the Deathroot, and even a quick extra boss fight. Here’s every reward you’ll get for every Deathroot you hand over to Gurranq:
Deathroot | Reward(s) |
---|---|
1 | Clawmark Seal (Weapon) and Beast Eye |
2 | Bestial Sling (Incantation) |
3 | Bestial Vitality (Incantation) |
4 | Beast’s Roar (Ash of War) and a boss fight |
5 | Beast Claw (Incantation) |
6 | Stone of Gurranq (Incantation) |
7 | Beastclaw Greathammer (Weapon) |
8 | Gurranq’s Beastclaw |
9 | Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone (Upgrade material) |
Once you’ve delivered Gurranq your ninth and final Deathroot and collected your hard-earned Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone, that’s it – no more Deathroot to collect!
