Hogwarts Legacy is finally here for those who have been waiting to explore the Wizarding World. The game promises more than 40 hours of game time, with side quests, collectibles, trophies and more to pick up and tackle along the way.
We know the max level in Hogwarts, and there is a cap. But what happens when you complete the game? Can you start again with all your gear, spells and at your current level? Here’s everything you need to know.
Is there a new game plus in Hogwarts Legacy?
The Videogamer.com team has put in hours into Hogwarts Legacy and has completed the game, which took approximately 35-40 hours, not including all of the side quests or collectibles.
Once the main quests are completed, there is no new game plus option currently in Hogwarts Legacy. This means that if you start a new game, you’ll be right back at Level 1 – none of your skills, spells and talents will carry over. That being said, you’re able to continue exploring the world and tackling side quests, finding collectibles and so on.

However, this doesn’t mean it couldn’t make an appearance some time in the future. In God of War Ragnarok for example, new game plus has been confirmed to arrive this year (spring 2023) – many months after the initial launch.

With that in mind, we think it’s highly likely a new game plus will feature at some point in Hogwarts Legacy – and if it does, it’ll likely arrive a few months after the main launch, in similar fashion to God of War Ragnarok. We could well see the max level raised also, but at the time of writing this is pure speculation.
Until then, here’s hoping we see new game plus in Hogwarts Legacy sooner rather than later!
