Looking for the best Death Stranding 2 Chiral Crystal farm? Whether it’s for building roads, repairing mines, or just crafting guns and gear, you’re going to need a ton of Chiral Crystals in Death Stranding 2. While you’ll pick up a decent amount organically by following the main story and hoovering up crystals when you come across them, you’ll eventually hit a point where you’ll need more, especially if you’ve got your eye on patching up the Auto-Paver highway network that spans the Australian continent.
Knowing how and where to farm these vital golden shards can make all the difference as we found out while reviewing the game. In this guide, we’ll walk you through the best Chiral Crystal farm in Death Stranding 2, including several prime locations.
How to farm Chiral Crystals
You can get Chiral Crystals from fixed, one-time-yield deposits like the tar pits around mines such as the Mine North of F1 and the Mine North of Tar Lake, but they are a one-and-done deal so hardly sustainable. The pools near Chiral Creatures, such as those just south east of the Animal Shelter, do replenish but the yield is so small that they aren’t all that worthwhile. You’re almost better off just driving around scooping up crystals from the ground.
The best hauls come from killing BTs, notably Catchers, floating BTs, and golden Gazers. The real benefit here is that BTs respawn after a short period of time, effectively giving you a limitless supply of crystals. Alongside, it’s also worth unlocking APAS Enhancements that offer boosted and passive yields:
APAS Enhancement | Effect | How to Unlock |
---|---|---|
Chiral Crystal Yield Boost | Occasionally allows a bumper haul of Chiral Crystals to be collected by recovering crystals dispersed during collection attempts. | 3 stars connection level at The Metagenomicist |
Super Chiralium Extraction | Collects chiral particles from the atmosphere, gradually increasing your stock of Chiral Crystals. | 1 stars connection level at BPAS |
Best Death Stranding 2 Chiral Crystal farm spots
Here are several locations that provide the best farming options in the game:
Floating BTs southwest of The Dowser
Along the coast to the southwest of The Dowser prepper, you’ll find a cluster of floating BTs. Grab a few assault rifles or grenades launchers and pick them out of the sky. Scour the ground afterwards to find dozens of Chiral Crystal deposits that will earn you up to a thousand crystals per run. It’s risk free so a reliable option if you want to avoid messy fights against tougher BTs.
Golden Gazers southeast of The Ghost Hunter
This is more of a mid-game to late-game option, but among the ruins just southeast of The Ghost Hunter prepper shelter, you’ll find several golden Gazers – tethered spectre BTs that float above the ground. Each one will drop several hundred crystals when killed. Better yet, they appear to respawn indefinitely as long as you’re not caught and face off against a Catcher BT. Bring along a stock of assault rifles, grenade launchers, and shotguns, and you’re looking at several thousand in a matter of minutes.
Bestia Catchers south of The Metagenomicist
Along the shore of the massive Tar Lake between The Metagenomicist, The Fisherman, and the F5 East Distribution Centre, you’ll find two BT Areas home to Catcher-type BTs – the larger variants that play out as mini-boss fights. The southernmost BT Area spawns two (sometimes three) Bestia Catchers (the lion variant), that when killed drop over a thousand crystals each. Head there with plenty of firepower and a few BT Crystal summons caught using EX Capture Grenades to make easy work of them.
Floating BTs east of The Tar Therapist
This one is very much a late-game option and works similarly to The Dowser floating BTs farm. On the shore west of The Tar Therapist, you’ll find a large group of jellyfish-like floating BTs. Gun them down from afar then swoop in to hoover up to a thousand crystals. They respawn extremely quickly as well so you can keep visiting regularly.
F3 Crater Catchers
Lastly, if you’re happy take on multiple Catcher-type BTs, the F3 Crater is another reliable option. It’s located in the very north of Australia, north of Heartman’s Lab. When you approach the island at the centre of the tar lake in the crater, several Catchers will spawn. You can dispatch these quickly by summoning your own Catchers and hoover up several thousand Chiral Crystals per run.
These four farming spots should keep you well stocked in Chiral Crystals. Remember to also claim crystals from facilities in both Mexico and Australia whenever you raise their connection level for an easy haul.
