Is Dead by Daylight a free-to-play title?

Unfortunately, Dead by Daylight is not a free game, and you’ll need to make an initial purchase in order to start playing. The game’s cost will vary by platform and region, but here are the main prices you’re looking at depending on what version you decide to pick up.

  • Dead by Daylight Standard Edition: £14.99/ $18.31
  • Dead by Daylight Ultimate Edition: £56.52/ $69.02
  • Dead by Daylight Resident Evil Collaboration Bundle: £31.82/ $38.86
  • Dead by Daylight Silent Hill Edition: £42.67/ $52.11

There are also a wide range of DLC chapter packs available for the game, with a total of 41 at the time of writing. These range in price from £2.49 to £24.99. Like the other editions and bundles though, they are optional content, and not required for playing the game.

The optional content ranges in what’s contained within. Some will give you access to new killers, such as the Trapper or Huntress who can turn games against the unprepared into veritable killing grounds. Often, they’ll be familiar faces from all corners of the horror world, such as the Demigorgon from Stranger Things, or Ghost Face. Expansions may also contain other gameplay items like offerings, bloodpoints, perks, and plenty of unlockables to expand your gameplay options and hone your own personal strategy. Others may only contain cosmetics and skins. These are commonly found around holiday periods, like Halloween or the December holidays.

That’s all we’ve got for you on whether Dead by Daylight is free. Wondering if the game is cross-platform, has split screen co-op, or if there are any Dead by Daylight codes you can get your hands on in the meantime? We’ve got guides to help answer those questions and more.
