Hogwarts Legacy: Can you become a Dark Lord?

No, you cannot become a Dark Lord in Hogwarts Legacy. In the gameplay trailer released by Avalanche Software, it can be clearly seen that the Wizards and Dark Lords are supposed to be the antagonists in the game. While you’ll be able to learn Dark Arts in the game to some extent, which are also learned by evil Wizards, you won’t be able to become a villain in the game.

It wouldn’t make any sense if the protagonist of the game joined opposing forces; hence we’re pretty sure something like that won’t happen. Furthermore, it would just make the game less fun for the Harry Potter fans out there, who’ve always witnessed their protagonist doing the right thing amidst all the evil taking place.

How much Dark Arts can you learn in Hogwarts Legacy?

Since you can’t become a Dark Lord, you can learn the Dark Arts to quench your thirst for learning some forbidden spells. While we’re not sure how much Dark Arts you can actually learn, you will be able to use all the Unforgivable Curses, including Avada Kedavra, in the game. At the same time, we also believe the protagonist would definitely use them when deemed necessary on Dark Wizards or villains to give them a taste of their own medicine.

The gameplay trailer also showed that you could use Dark Spells on your fellow Wizards, which would be similar to killing NPCs like in GTA V. While that necessary won’t make you the villain of the game, it might have its consequences which we’re unsure about at this time.
