As sure as the tides, Elden Ring Nightreign’s release has prompted a flurry of mods aiming to patch up some of the co-op spin-off’s less desirable aspects and annoyances. You can now tweak the game to your liking with performance improvements and even the option to play alongside a pal as a duo instead of the imposed three-player squads or taking on the Nightlords as a solo Nightfarer.
In this guide, we’ll walk you through the best Elden Ring Nightreign mods that have surfaced so far, including quality-of-life improvements, difficulty tuning, and as mentioned above, support for duos. Note that most of these mods only work with EAC (Easy Anti-Cheat) disabled and therefore are mainly for offline play. For a bit of advice before diving into Limveld, check out our tips and tricks and the best weapons for each class.
Seamless Co-op
From prolific Souls modder Yui who brought us the fantastic co-op mod of the same name for the original Eden Ring, Seamless Co-op lets you jump into Expeditions as a duo. It’s unofficial of course and FromSoft has plans to introduce a native equivalent at some point in the future, but this is a perfect stopgap in the meantime. You can grab it over on NexusMods.
Nightreign FPS Unlocker
The NightReign FPS Unlocker mod does what it says on the tin. It gets rid of the native 60 FPS cap, letting you choose 120, 144, 240, and all the way up 500 FPS or even a custom frame rate to allow those with beefy hardware to get buttery smooth performance. It’s available on NexusMods and even supports the Seamless Co-op mod above and even auto-detects the current FPS limit.
Fun is Allowed – Rebalance Mod for Solos and Duos
There’s no shying away from the fact that Nightreign is a challenging game. It comes with the territory as a FromSoftware joint. If you fancy dialing down the difficulty then the Fun Is Allowed mod might be just the ticket. It aims to mitigate the poor single player scaling by introducing some targeted tweaks to things like damage output, healing, stamina, consumable buffs, and FP regen to make the game more fun and balanced without obliterating the core experience. You can download it over on NexusMods.
Unlock Outfits Early
As we noted in our skins guide, unlocking all the outfits for all the eight Nightfarers is a serious undertaking and requires felling multiple Nightlords and amassing thousands and thousands of Murks. If you’re eager to play dress-up as early as possible, the Unlock Outfits Early mod is a veritable boon. It lets you unlock and buy all and any skins before you’ve even encountered Gladius for the first time so you can deck out your Nightfarer in the finest threads from the get-go. You’ll still need to spend Murk to get the skins, though, so keep that in mind. You can pick it up over on NexusMods as well.
No Circle Damage
One of the hardest mechanics to manage in Nightreign is the ever-present threat of the approaching Night’s Tide. Getting stuck inside its fiery licks and losing a level and hard-earned Runes is a right drag. It can really put a damper on an enjoyable run through Limveld. The No Circle Damage mod disables damage to players outside of the circle, no more, no less. Get it over on NexusMods.
Fast Launch
That initial white screen flash bang followed by Bandai then FromSoft’s respective logos is all very exciting the very time you fire up Nightreign, but it gets tedious pretty quickly. The Fast Launch mod axes the intro logos, letting you get to the title screen much faster and, by extension, into an Expedition sooner. You can pick it up on NexusMods.
Better Player Scaling
The Better Player Scaling mod is similar to the Fun Is Allowed mod, but approaches Nightreign with a lighter touch. It tweaks HP, FP, stamina, and damage so that every time you level up, you’ll get more of a generous bump than you would in the vanilla version. The mod is ideal for solo players that want fairer scaling and a better chance to take down the Nightlords alone with completely diluting FromSoft’s intended challenge. You can download it on NexusMod.
That covers the best Elden Ring Nightreign mods. We’ll keep an eye out for any new standouts and add them to our list when we do. In the meantime, check out how to get the secret ending, a quick primer on the elusive Cord End item, and a full guide to all the Nightfarer Remembrance quests in Elden Ring Nightreign.
