One of the biggest complaints about Football Manager is that the finances are completely broken. Some of the transfer and wage budgets are just wildly unrealistic – but more importantly, the AI behaves like it’s never seen a calculator.
Not only will they offer you pocket change for your star players, but they’ll also demand that you break the transfer record any time you try to buy one of theirs. The deeper you look, the clearer it becomes: the financial side of FM is fundamentally flawed.
Thankfully, one man has made it his mission to sort out FM finances with this single essential mod. While some mods for FM turn the game into pure chaos, this mod is the opposite of this
Football Manager ‘Transfer Budgets Mega Fix’
The mod is officially titled “Transfer Budgets Mega Fix 24.3”, and it’s a full-on overhaul of Football Manager’s financial system.
As the creator explains: “This database improves the financial side of the game, adjusting transfer budgets, wages, release clauses, AI transfer behaviour and much more!”
It’s an ongoing project with the goal of fixing every club’s budget, player wages, and release clauses. Turning the game into something far more realistic.
So far, the modder has tackled over 700 clubs across 40+ leagues, using a simple but effective method: divide each club’s bank balance by two to calculate a fair transfer budget. For example, Manchester United’s budget was set at £1,000,000 in-game, but after adjusting based on their real bank balance (around £80 million), it now sits at a more sensible £40,000,000.
Some clubs, like Aston Villa, Everton, Nottingham Forest, and Burnley, were showing a £1 transfer budget (???), which has now been adjusted using rough estimates based on their actual net worth.
In total, 43 leagues and 800 clubs have had their budgets corrected. While the modder is focusing on top divisions for now, subdivisions will be updated in future versions.
To help track progress, there’s even a live Google Sheets roadmap, showing the status of each league and club.

Final Thoughts
This is yet another top-tier mod that takes a game which, let’s be honest, is starting to feel very familiar and makes it actually playable again.
If you’ve ever lost your mind trying to sell a player for a fair fee, or felt personally insulted by a £500k bid for your star striker, this mod is for you.
In my next article, I’ll be rounding up all the best additions and tools that help, in the wise words of Moneyball, “recreate Football Manager 2025 in the aggregate.”
