With MultiVersus Season One rolling out, we’ve decided to compile a tier list here at VideoGamer, we’ll be dividing the characters into tiers (S, A and B tier).
Currently there are a total of sixteen characters.
However we’ll be including Rick and Morty, Black Adam and Stripe as the confirmed new characters coming this season.
So a total of twenty characters will be added into this tier list – that’s a lot to break up down!
However, without further ado – here is our tier list for MultiVersus Season One:
Tier | MultiVersus Characters (as of August 2022) |
S | Bugs Bunny, Tom and Jerry, Finn, Arya Stark, Harley Quinn & Black Adam |
A | Batman, Reindog, Superman, LeBron James, Shaggy, Rick & Wonder Woman |
B | Velma, Jake, Steven Universe, Garnet, Iron Giant, Taz, Morty & Stripe |
Who is the best character in MultiVersus?
Bugs Bunny
The best character in MultiVersus remains to be Bugs Bunny! Though he was nerfed in the season one patch, he still remains to be the strongest character in the game.
His projectiles still hit very hard in the current meta and the versatility the character brings can provide for a very quick play style.

His counter-attacking capability is very strong and can exploit bad positions very easily, not to mention – his ring out moves are incredibly strong followed by combos.
Alongside Bugs Bunny, we’ll break down the rest of S tier underneath.
S tier (Tier 1)
The best of the best, you’ll be wanting to choose these characters if you want to win now, a must-try for people wanting to climb as fast as possible.
- Tom and Jerry (Special moves: Slingshot Sharpshooter / Rocket Mouse): Two for the price of one! Tom and Jerry bring huge versatility and harassment with their ranged moves however can be classed as high skill. A lot of durability too so can keep their combos up and keep harassing. They are strongest in 2v2 situations as Tom and throw Jerry to allies for buffs and enemies as crowd-control. A very unpredictable character but still one of the strongest in a mage-strong meta.
- Finn the Human (Special moves: High Five, Dude! / Backpack ‘Em Up!): A very strong assassin at the moment, his passive if used in the right can be lethal in crucial moments that could lead to a ring out. There seems to be some hitbox issues with Finn however is still on-going so until then, Finn is definitely worth being an S-tier pick in MultiVersus.
- Harley Quinn (Special Moves: Stuffie Bat, Batter Up!): Another assassin character, Harley is built for landing hard-hitting attacks, her debuff is she can enlighten enemies and deal even more damage! If she can inflict her confetti status on you it knocks back and further ignites which deals more damage. However, with most assassins you need to be careful – they are the most vulnerable too! If you can keep up your combos with Harley she can be almost impossible to kill, a very strong character in the air too to blow big damage and potential early ring outs.
- Arya Stark (Special Moves: Face-Stealer, Knife-Thrower): A surprising addition to S-tier however following the season one patch, she is now definitely a viable pick in this tier. The developers back at Player First have buffed her a lot! She received a lot of aerial special damage buffs including more accuracy with her first hit. Slightly underpowered in pre-season and open beta, Arya looks to be in a strong spot currently entering Season One.
- Black Adam (Special Moves: TBC): We’re predicting Black Adam will be in S-tier! If he’s as strong as he is in the comics we could predict that he will fit in this tier.
A-tier (Tier 2)
This tier consists of good characters, you can definitely bring them in teams queues and ranked, however are not as meta-heavy as the other characters are currently.
- Batman – What is a game with DC characters without Batman? He’s also the best bruiser in the game currently! Boasting grapples and bombs, Batman can keep up a very strong combo counter that also weakens enemies. An engaging character that excels the most in the frontlines and being in the pocket for fights.
- Reindog – A character with slow abilities however great harassment! The character is listed as a support however has big damage capability. His ability ‘Love Leash’ provides extra survivability from certain death. A great ability on tanks to keep them more beefy.
- Superman – The next best tank in the game is Superman, a character with multiple attacks and array of special attacks to use too. Superman can definitely be lethal that deals big damage in short amount of time. However he can be vulnerable at times against ranged enemies as most of his requires him to be up close and personal.
- LeBron James – The GOAT himself (maybe?) is also in the game! Classed as a bruiser he has the blend of melee attacks and ranged as his basketballs can hit multiple people. During this meta, LeBron is in a stable position however can be fairly hard to use at times! Mastering him would get even more potential out of the character.
- Shaggy – Classed a bruiser, similar to LeBron – a good range of melee and ranged to which his ranged attacks compliment his melee a lot! However in A-tier, Shaggy stays in the low-end of A-tier as he can be hard to master. We’ve kept him in A-tier as he is the tutorial character after all! The first character many people may master first! He definitely is a popular pick after all and he will have no problem with pick rates in competitive.
- Rick (1/2 of Rick and Morty) – The newest addition to the MultiVersus, looking to come on August 23rd! We can see Rick in A-tier before his patch. The scientist could be a brutal mage in this meta as his move set looks to have some strong projectiles in them! He could be tricky however, as his portal – though not damaging, looks to be a high skill move! It’ll be interesting how fits into the game once he arrives.
- Wonder Woman – Though not a flashy character, ‘Lasso of Truth’ is a very effective ability. Her other abilities seem to be inconsistent however she provides great buffs to allies and can be tank-y enough to sustain the damage she’s been dealt with. Following her buff in Season One, and also performances from NAKAT in Evo 2022, she sees herself in A-tier, but just about!
B-tier (Tier-3)
Situational characters. These characters are viable if you want to master them however you’re putting yourself at risk of being pretty underpowered!
- Velma – Unfortunately, following the season one patch – we see Velma in B-tier. She got a significant nerf as she was very overpowered following her performance at EVO 2022. However, she’s still great at buffing allies and doing damage at distance. Her ability to pick up clues and call the cops is great crowd-control for allies to deal huge damage to.
- Jake The Dog – A bruiser who is still slightly underpowered. He can be situational at times however does provide a decent amount of damage when synergising with other allies. To be able to deny recovery is very strong but Jake can also disengage very easily too!
- Steven Universe – A decent support, however is very limited in their kit. The character doesn’t deal the best damage and is very reliant on their allies to engage first. However his projectile denial is great against bruisers and mages as a counter more extra survivability.
- Garnet – Capable doing good damage, she’s vulnerable a times. She has okay combos however she is very slow to output her damage! Her recovery is also not that great either which can exploit her at times.
- Taz – Once a very strong character, now has been nerfed a lot! Following a day one nerf after open-beta, the character still received a decent amount of buffs in the season one patch, however does not played almost as much as he did at the beginning – so he stays in B-tier.
- Stripe – Another character that is looking to be joining in Season One, we’ve got Stripe from Gremlins in B-tier. Due to the plethora of mages that we predict Stripe to be in, the list may be overwhelming for Stripe to enter and balance amongst other mages including Tom and Jerry and Bugs Bunny. It will be interesting however to see where Stripe fits in the meta once launched!
- Iron Giant – Seriously? Yes Iron Giant can deal good damage at one time however he’s a punching bag! Very easy to deal damage against and if you aren’t harassing enough, you’ll be getting broken down by enemies. On top that he’s very slow to manoeuvre with, players will struggle to get the grips of him instantly. He’s extremely situational at times!
So there you have it! Our current tier list for MultiVersus as of August 2022 during Season One.
Hopefully, this shows you characters to choose since the beginning of the season to have a play around and grab these wins!
Now, go enjoy MultiVersus how you want and get fighting as we’re rolling into Season One!
