With Arrowhead thinking of new late-game progression options for Helldivers 2 as well as more rewards for dedicated Major Order players, players are already thinking up new ways for the developers to easily make the game feel more rewarding.

With players going hard on the latest Major Orders to fight for the sake of democracy, players could earn simple cape cosmetics or slight armour recolours to celebrate their achievements.

Helldivers 2 cosmetic should reward hardcore players

In the past, Helldivers 2 has rewarded players for their achievements as a community. For example, divers that fought through the horrors of Malevelon Creek were granted a special cape in honour of its fallen heroes. However, these types of cosmetics should also reward dedicated players.

Inspired by an idea on Reddit, players in Helldivers 2 who hit certain targets could receive special capes or unique emblems for their armour. For example, a player that kills a particularly large number of Terminids could unlock a cape that celebrates the genocide they’ve committed, and the same for bots and squids.

This could also exist for players who are standouts for major events. For example, if someone was fighting on Angel’s Venture as it was destroyed, they could have received a rare, one-off cosmetic cape for fighting until the very last second.

Of course, the main issue with cosmetics like these is that some players will scream FOMO for not being able to hit certain targets during a particular event. (In fact, gamers did this very recently with Space Marine 2) However, with Helldivers 2 already having a large number of cosmetics for unlock via Warbonds, there’s more than enough space to give dedicated players a little bit extra.

As of now, there are players who have spent hundreds of hours in HD2 with their levels in the hundreds. These players have killed millions of Super Earth’s biggest foes, unlocked everything and still keep on fighting. These players do deserve something a little extra—not a crown, but a cape or two for their efforts.
