Welcome to Heads-up, VideoGamer.com's weekly feature which gives you an at-a-glance run-down on the games you'll be able to buy or rent this weekend. Every Tuesday we'll pick out the best of the bunch, link to our reviews and previews and keep you in the video game loop so you have enough time to pre-order for Friday's post. Time to splash the cash.

Recommended: Empire: Total War - PC

We approach each new Total War game with equal parts excitement and dread. We know it'll be good, but we also know that once we start playing nothing else will get a look in. We're currently working our way through the epic campaign so we can bring you our final verdict, but we've seen enough to know that all strategy game fans won't want to miss SEGA's latest.

Also worth a look

Mario Power Tennis - Wii

As the latest GameCube game to receive a Wii control makeover, you can more or less guess what's been added here. You'll have to wait for our review to find out if it's good enough to make you stop playing Wii Sports Tennis or if even Nintendo can't better its Wii launch title.

Patapon 2 - PSP

We quite liked the original Patapon. The quirky little rhythmic strategy game proved to be different enough to get our attention and fun enough to keep it. We've yet to get our hands on the sequel, but if it can build on the successful formula laid down by the first it ought to be worth a look.

Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X - 360 and PS3

H.A.W.X. is the latest Clancy game from Ubisoft to try and integrate with the other games in the series (if you've seen the TV ad you'll have spotted the Ghosts from Ghost Recon marking a target for the pilots to take out). With a novel way of making flight combat fun for all kinds of gamers we reckon Ubiosft's latest could give the classic Ace Combat series a run for its money.
