Welcome to Heads-up, VideoGamer.com's weekly feature which gives you an at-a-glance run-down on the games you'll be able to buy or rent this weekend. Every Tuesday (Thursday in this case) we'll pick out the best of the bunch, link to our reviews and previews and keep you in the video game loop so you have enough time to pre-order for Friday's post. Time to splash the cash.

Recommendation of the Week: Madden NFL 09, Xbox 360, PS3, Wii

The release of a new Madden is always a big event in the US, but it comes and goes fairly unnoticed in the UK. We're not massive NFL fans here at VideoGamer.com (well, Wez was obsessive about it at one point during his younger years but that's about it), but we can still appreciate that this year's Madden is an excellent sports sim. Without anything else on this week's schedule jumping up and down and begging to be bought that makes Madden NFL 09 our recommendation of the week. That recommendation comes with a slight warning though: if you have absolutely no interest in American Football and like your sports quite free flowing, look elsewhere. Alternatively, the Wii version's All-play mode might be worth a look.
