While Xbox’s exclusive free-to-play sequel Halo Infinite suffered from a rough launch, developer 343 Industries—now rebanded as Halo Studios—has spent three years crafting more content and features for the game. While new weapons won’t make their way to the campaign, the game’s multiplayer suite is still expanding with frequent updates.

In an interview with VideoGamer, senior community manager and acting multiplayer producer on Halo Infinite John Junyszek explained that the game is in an extremely strong state. In fact, the team behind the game believe gamers will be “hard pressed” to find a game with as much value as the newest Halo game.

Halo Infinite offers more than many believe

Speaking to VideoGamer after the launch of the Great Journey update, Junyszek explained that Infinite did have the “most successful launch in the history of the franchise”. While player numbers are stable, but not extraordinary, the team is confident that few other games—especially free-to-play ones—have as much on offer as Halo Infinite does.

“For multiplayer fans, you’ll be hard pressed to find a free-to-play title today that offers more features or experiences than Halo Infinite,” Junyszek told VideoGamer. “From small ranked matches to larger social experiences to throwback games on reimagined classic maps to PVE Firefight to 3rd person gameplay to the mind-blowing power of the Forge map and mode editor(and countless amazing community creations) to some of the best looking Spartans the series has ever seen – Halo Infinite has come a long way since launch and keeps getting better with each update.”

“There is definitely a hunger for more Halo Infinite content and we strive to keep players engaged and entertained with ongoing updates.”

HALO INFINITE SENIOR COMMUNITY MANAGER JOHN JUNYSZEK

Junyszek explained that Infinite has a strong core fanbase that “is regularly coming back” to experience new content as well as an incredible map-making community for its Forge Mode custom games. While there was a worry that the game was slowing down, the community manager is keen to note that Halo Studios is far from done with the game.

“There is definitely a hunger for more Halo Infinite content and we strive to keep players engaged and entertained with ongoing updates,” Junyszek explained. “Halo Infinite today is truly a Halo fan’s dream with something to offer all Halo fans on both Xbox and PC.”

Right now, Halo Infinite is currently starting its Operation: Snowbound update, bringing new game modes and more to the fast-paced FPS game. Infinite is available on Xbox One, Series and PC right now for free, alongside a paid campaign. Obviously, it’s also in Xbox Game Pass.
