343 Industries has been killed and Halo Studios has risen from the ashes, putting multiple Halo games into production. Alongside more updates for Halo Infinite, the studio has officially moved to Unreal Engine to work on a slew of new games, one possibly being a remake of the original Halo: Combat Evolved.

In an interview with VideoGamer, Halo’s “Voice of God” actor Jeff Steitzer revealed that no one has heard anything about roles for the new projects. While Steitzer is typically brought into record multiplayer voice lines mere months before launch, other Halo veterans have also heard nothing about the upcoming projects.

The tightest Halo secret yet

Speaking to VideoGamer, Steitzer—who is also known for hilarious Cameo videos between roles— explained that nobody has been approached by Halo Studios for new games. In fact, Steitzer, Steve Downes (Master Chief) and Jen Taylor (Cortana) weren’t even aware that new projects were in development until the announcement went live.

“I asked Jen [Taylor], and I asked Steve [Downes] and I asked Tim Dadabo, and none of them had heard about it,” Steitzer explained.

Following the reveal of Halo Studios’ “New Dawn” project, an initiative to continue the look and feel of Xbox’s flagship studio in Unreal Engine, some of the series’ biggest performers didn’t even believe it was happening.

“Steve [Downes] didn’t believe it was happening” Steitzer explained. “And I was like, ‘I think it was announced in various [places]. Someone had actually talked somewhere about it and they sent me a link to a magazine article. No, we have not heard anything. At all.”

“There’s a huge assumption built into that, and that is that I’ll be here in three years.”

HALO’S MULTIPLAYER ANNOUNCER JEFF STEITZER

Steitzer’s return

As the iconic voice of Halo’s multiplayer, Steitzer’s role in the Halo series is a beloved part of the franchise. While the actor has yet to be called back for a new multiplayer project, there is hope he will be included in the game’s online component.

“They better get moving quickly,” Steitzer laughed. “There’s a huge assumption built into that, and that is that I’ll be here in three years. So, if they want me, they better snap me up now. Just like James Earl Jones, you know, go ahead and pay me a lot of money for my voice and they can use it however they want to.”
