The console war is fought everywhere these days, but the internet seems to be where people are most vocal. It also serves to give each console its own set of downloadable content, fuelling the war even more. Each week we'll give you a run-down of what's available to download on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Wii, and declare a winner.

Note: This round-up is based on UK releases to each console's online service and does not include premium video content. Releases outside of the UK could vary.

PlayStation 3 - PSN

It seems PSN is still waking up after the Christmas and New Year holiday, with not a great deal being on offer this week. The biggest release is the demo for EA's Lord of the Rings: Conquest, which gives you a taste of the multiplayer focussed action game ahead of its January 16 release date. This is joined by new content for Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm and the Faction Elite pack for EndWar.

As usual there's a selection of new tracks for Rock Band and Guitar Hero World Tour, and trailers for LotR: Conquest, Brain Challenge and Tekken 6.

Xbox 360 - Marketplace

Just as PSN didn't excite much, Xbox LIVE Marketplace hardly sets the world on fire this week either. While new tracks for Guitar Hero World Tour, Rock Band and Lips might not be a huge surprise, and new DLC for EndWar and Tomb Raider Underworld (sadly just a costume pack, not a new level) won't be for everyone, 360 owners do get a demo of EA's Skate 2 - something PS3 owners are going to have to wait for. It's out a good few weeks before the full retail release too, so if you haven't already grabbed it from Xbox LIVE Marketplace, we recommend you do so now.

There is a full XBLA release, but Interpol isn't nearly up to the standard set by XBLA games during the latter half of 2008. This 'find things in still pictures' game might have been worth a shot at 400 MS Points, but at 800 we'd recommend you give it a miss.

Head to page 3 for a look at this week's Wii releases.

After weeks of pretty strong releases for both WiiWare and Virtual Console we probably should have expected a lull in releases, and this week appears to be it. European Wii owners only have two new games to choose from, with neither of them being that great. Enduro Racer for the Master System is essentially a poor man's ExciteBike and Donkey Kong 3 changes the classic formula for the worst - you don't even play as Mario. Unless you loved either back in the day you're better off saving your points.

Virtual Console

Enduro Racer (Master System): 500 Wii Points

Donkey Kong 3 (NES): 500 Wii Points

And the winner of this week's DLC Royal Rumble is...

Xbox 360

Picking a winner this week wasn't clear cut as none of the consoles delivered anything amazing to get excited about. In the end it comes down to which has the best exclusive content, and that award goes to the Xbox 360 with the Skate 2 demo. Hopefully we'll get some decent game releases next week.
