This holiday season is going to be jam packed with the best Nintendo Switch deals. In terms of Black Friday deals, we’ve already covered the best Switch Consoles and Games, best Bundles, and best Joy Cons, and now we’ve got the best Black Friday Switch Lite deals.
The Nintendo Switch Lite is the little cousin of the Nintendo Switch – resemblance in shape and appearance, but functionally extremely different.
A break away from the Switch design which involved the removable Joy Cons, the Switch Lite instead has permanently attached controls. It’s a design pattern eerily similar to that of the 3DS and 2DS, in which Nintendo seemingly removes to gimmick from the flagship device and offers a much more traditional gaming experience.
That, however, is not a criticism but genuine praise as Nintendo invite gamers who shun trendy gimmicks.
Don’t forget there is also a new wave of Mario Kart tracks just about to be released. All the more reaosn to get yourself a Switch Lite and quick.

Compare your retailers: Always try to SWITCH up who you’re buying your products from (god, that’s one of my worst to date). If you’ve found a great deal on one website, you can be sure that they’ll be others selling that exact same product, and you can be doubly sure that they arrived at their number with careful consideration of their competitors. Try and get the most out of the search engine at your finger tips and compare for less.

Is a new Nintendo Switch on the way?

You might have heard rumours of a new, 4k compatible, Nintendo Switch being on the way. While this is probably true, it is not likely to be emerging anytime soon. For this reason we wouldn’t recommend holding of on purchasing your Switch Lite, unless you don’t mind waiting for quite a while.
The main reason for Nintendo to hold off from releasing or formally announcing the next generation of Switches is simply because the current generation is still at its peak. With OLED model released just last year and plenty of games constantly being added to the roster, it just doesn’t make sense for Nintendo to prematurely take the wind out its sales.
One things for sure, any rumours, release dates or info on the Nintendo Switch 2 will be covered right here by our dedicated news team.
What’s the difference between Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch Lite?
If you’re planning on mainly gaming on the go and are more driven by budget, then the Nintendo Switch Lite will probably be the better choice. Below we’ve broken down the key differences and similarities between the two.
What stays the same between the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch Lite
We’ll start off with what’s the same – you play games on both consoles in the same way in handheld mode with the same resolution screen (1280 x 720) and custom Nvidia Tegra processor.
Handheld Nintendo Switch vs. TV docked Nintendo Switch
The difference is that Switch Lite can only do handheld mode whereas the standard Switch can be used in TV, table-top or handheld modes.
These extra options mean that you’ll be playing with detachable Jon-Con controllers which connect wirelessly via the main Switch unit. The controllers can be reattached to the main Switch console for handheld play too though.
Joy-Con controllers are a bit different for the Switch Lite – it replaces the four directional buttons on the left Joy-Con with a traditional D-pad.
Nintendo Switch vs. Switch Lite Battery Life
Switch: Estimated 4.5 – 9 hours
Switch Lite: 3 – 7 hours
Note that battery life is influenced by what games you’re playing. For example, playing The Legend of Zelda: Breath of Wild on the Nintendo Switch will give you 5.5 hours of game play, whilst playing on Switch Lite will give you 1.5 hours less (4 hours total play).
Nintendo Switch vs. Switch Lite Display
As we’ve covered above, both screens have a 1280 x 720 LCD screen but they differ in size.
Nintendo Switch has a 6.2-inch screen.
Nintendo Switch Lite has a 5.5-inch screen.
If you’re looking to get a higher resolution which is great for games like Alien: Isolation and Doom, feast your eyes on the Nintendo Switch OLED model which comes with a nice and wide 7-inch OLED screen.
