Cartel Protection is the most difficult and lengthy mission you’ll have encountered in Modern Warfare 2 so far. Cartel Protection is far from easy, but it shows Modern Warfare 2’s engaging action at its very best.
In the aftermath of Borderline, Soap and Ghost are sent to ally with Colonel Alejandro and continue the pursuit of Hassan Zyani. Modern Warfare 2 – Cartel Protection Walkthrough
The mission will begin with you cracking the gates of the compound, instantly moving up and engaging with cartel soldiers posted behind cover.
Head past the houses and down the alley, watching out for cartel soldiers hiding in doorways. Enter the last door on the right, pick up a Bryson 800 shotgun in the hallway and clear the house of cartel members.
Exit through the back and into Hassan’s safehouse. Breach the door and clear out the soldiers on the ground floor. Secure the second floor and be ready for an ambush outside.
Waves of enemy troops will roll up to your position. Switch to the M203 Grenade Launcher attachment to bypass the shields and take out several at once.

A Perilous Retreat
When the option becomes available, switch back to primary fire, retreat, and jump out of the back window. Head down the hillside, take cover, and pick off the enemy troops when promoted.
Further down the trail, a second wave of enemies will engage you. Take cover behind the rock and repeat the process until you are allowed to move forward.
Down the slope, an RPG will be fired at your position, necessitating holding your ground and taking out the pursuers one last time. The rockets will instantly kill you on impact, so be sure to pick off the RPG wielders on the ridge first.
Follow Alejandro’s lead and begin jumping across the cliff. In the open area beyond, fight your way up the slope and again focus fire on the RPG carriers first. If ammunition is running low, return to Alejandro to stock up.
Once the troops have been dispatched, Alejandro will lead you to the cliff edge and a serious – but survivable – fall. Dive into the water and swim downstream.
Take cover as needed, pick off enemies on the riverbank, and make your way to the bridge. There, Graves will arrive to provide air support. With the bridge taken care of, make your way to the nearby truck and you will have completed Cartel Protection
