The minimum and recommended system requirements for Watch Dogs on PC have been leaked via Steam (now removed), confirming that you'll need a pretty beefy rig to enjoy the haction game to its fullest.

The specs were first leaked back in October and it doesn't appear that things have changed since then.

You'll need a 64-bit OS, along with specs in-line with what you see below.

Minimum specs:

  • DirectX 11 GPU with at least 1GB of VRAM (NVidia GTX 460 or AMD Radeon HD 5770)
  • Quad core CPU (Intel Core2 Quad Q8400 or AMD Phenom II X4 940)
  • 4GB RAM

Recommended specs:

  • Windows Vista (SP2), Windows 7 (SP1) or Windows 8
  • DirectX 11 card with at least 2GB of VRAM (NVidia GTX560 ti or AMD Radeon HD 7850)
  • Eight core CPU (Intel Core i7-3770 running at 3.5 GHz or AMD FX-8350 Eight-Core CPU running at 4 GHz)
  • 8GB RAM
  • 25GB of available hard drive space

Watch Dogs will launch May 27 for PC, Xbox One, PS4, Xbox 360 and PS3. A Wii U version is also planned for a later date. Analysis

It will be interesting to see how Watch Dogs running on a top-end PC compares to the PS4 and Xbox One versions, presumably making the new generation console owners a little jealous of the PC brigade.

I've been a PC Gamer for the past 8 or so years but I bought a PS4 for convenience. If I wanted to go play FIFA it's there, it works on that box and there is a lot less hassle involved, I don't have to worry about comparability issues, is my hardware good enough to run this ect... it just works.

Interest in the PC version is seriously waning now.

The 4GB minimum RAM requirement is wrong. You should check your sources.

With that spec, Watch dogs on PC will be one of two things:

1. The most technicaly and graphically impressive game on PC.

2. Unoptimised.

It's Ubisoft... Option 2 for sure.

The debate over PC vs consoles all hinges on the volumes of games you buy and when you buy them. If you buy a lot of big games on Day 1 then PC will prove more cost effective long term, if you don't mind waiting and buy a few games a year then console will wind up more cost effective. If we mix in the cost of subs for console online play and the higher energy cost of PC gaming it might even be a wash.

Either way which is cheaper depends more on who you are and how you game than the box you do it on.

Except in the long run it really isn't. The cheaper cost of PC games over the life of a single system make it so much cheaper, not to mention the lack of any PSN or Live sub. The fact that a console is cheaper to begin with is a huge misconception and massively misleading.

And thats before we even consider the likes of Steam and GOG and their sales etc.

Convenience is what sells consoles, not cost.
