EA has dropped the greatest hint yet that Titanfall 2 could be due to launch during its next financial year, just hours after Respawn boss Vince Zampella revealed that 2016 is “going to be a very big year” for the franchise.

Asked about the line-up of titles due for release during EA’s FY17 last night, chief financial officer Blake Jorgensen explained that the firm had mentioned in a previous earnings call “that you should expect another Battlefield title coming next year. We’ve shown Mass Effect at E3 this year. You should expect that again.

“And there’s some indication there will be some other titles obviously that are popular along those lines, like Titanfall or others. But we are very confident we can continue to grow the business.”

EA’s next financial year runs between April 1, 2016 and March 31, 2017, suggesting Titanfall 2 could drop at any point between then.

It’s the second time Jorgensen has dropped a hint at Titanfall 2 arriving during EA’s next financial year, too, having told investors in a previous call that the game is “more likely [to release] in fiscal 2017. And a title of that size, we want to be pretty clear as to when it’s falling in the title slate, and so your assumption should be 2017,” he said.

Yesterday, Respawn founder Vince Zampella revealed that “next year is going to be a very big year for Titanfall” while discussing plans to bring the franchise to mobile. But could he be hinting at something even bigger?
