Microsoft is preparing to reveal multiple unannounced projects currently in development at Rare, marketing director Aaron Greenberg has teased.

“We haven’t announced what Rare’s working on, but our team works closely with them and is going through the process of preparing to unveil their next things,” Greenberg told the Inner Circle Podcast. “But they have multiple projects in development and we feel really good about them.”

Late last year, Xbox head Phil Spencer teased that the developer was working on a “uniquely Rare game, as it should be”, telling IGN that he would “love to see them do something new that feels like a Rare game”.

A revival of Rare’s 1990s beat ’em up Battletoads has long been rumoured to be in development, although Microsoft has yet to confirm whether this will be the developer’s next game.

Could Microsoft have plans to reveal one or more of Rare’s games at E3?

Around 16 Rare staff were reported to have been made redundant last year following the underwhelming performance of the studio’s first Xbox One title Kinect Sports Rivals.
