E3 2014 has been "incredibly special," Xbox boss Phil Spencer has said in a wrap up post on Xbox Wire.

"I thought I'd share a few quick thoughts on the week. It's always one of my favourite weeks of the year and this E3 was incredibly special," wrote Spencer. "We saw amazing games from innovative creators, developed for Xbox, Sony and Nintendo. Some people have asked who 'won' this week and the answer is simple - the gamers. It's wonderful to see our industry healthy and delivering what we all want - great games."

He continued: "In many ways, our entire presence at E3 was built to showcase the incredible line-up of games coming to Xbox this year. With nine exclusive titles, and exclusive content for many more games, we believe Xbox One will be the best place to play this holiday."

Spencer added that he and the Xbox team is "laser focused on delivering the best line-up of exclusive games and continuously working to deliver new features and improvements to Xbox One".

He concluded: "We're just getting started on the road to the holidays and look forward to continuing to deliver more games, more product improvements and more entertainment in the coming months."

I'm glad that MSoft, EA and Ubi focused more directly on games this year. Sony's however was a snoozefest as it descended into spending half the time talking about accessories and TV or the fact they had timed exclusives.

It was pretty much games footage and announcements. I liked it.

Surprisingly not as smug as you'd think that it would be! Nice that he praises everything and, actually, doesn't talk about MS that much as a reason for why this week was enjoyable for him.

It was good that MS just focused on games (something Sony should have done - or at least just trimmed down) and didn't mess up their conference, unlike the two they did last year.

Microsofts presentation wasn't a cringefest like it normally is. Well played to them.
