Bungie has released the first footage of Destiny running at 1080p on Xbox One – the resolution the developer hopes to reach with the final version of the game this September.

As revealed last week, the Xbox One beta build, which is due to roll out this Wednesday, July 23, will only render at 900p.

Unfortunately, the video's compression makes it difficult to tell whether there are any major differences between the Xbox One and PS4 version, although the frame rate appears to take a hit once the player starts zipping around on the Sparrow at the 40 second mark. Whether that's an encoding problem with the video or the game itself, though, is impossible to determine.

However, Bungie graphics engineer Chris Tchou claims that the Xbox One "runs at the same resolution [and] same frame rate as PS4".

"We basically got together with Microsoft and got a bunch of engineers here to work on optimising and taking advantage of the system reserve… the extra GPU time Microsoft gave us and got it up to 1080p," he says.

"It's the same [on both PS4 & Xbox One]."

Destiny launches on Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 on September 9.
