Battlefield Hardline will run at 900p on PS4 and 720p on Xbox One, developer Visceral Games has confirmed. The game will run at 60fps on both platforms.

Confirmation follows one month after EA stated that the developer was aiming to get the game “playing at 60 FPS using the same resolution settings as [Battlefield 4],” suggesting that Hardline would run at 900p/720p across PS4 and Xbox One. The publisher chose not to confirm numbers at the time, however, telling VideoGamer.com in a follow-up statement that it had nothing further to add.

The low resolution may disappoint players expecting a full HD 1080p Battlefield. When Hardline was officially announced last year, Sony exec Adam Boyes stated that the game would run at 1080p/60fps on PS4.

Then, when discussing the game’s resolution a few days later, creative director Ian Milham revealed that “those two [PS4 and Xbox One] should be locked in together”, suggesting Visceral was aiming to achieve 1080p on Xbox One, too.

Earlier this month, a US study revealed that resolution was the number one reason why console buyers chose to pick up a PS4 over an Xbox One.

Battlefield Hardline launches on PS3, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC next Friday, March 20. A 10-hour trial of the game is due to go live worldwide on EA Access this Thursday, March 12.
