Ubisoft is already working on the two Assassin's Creed games to follow this year's Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag, but insists it's not rushing its development teams.

"We are making sure the teams who are creating the different iterations have enough time - two years, three years, so that they can take risk and they can change the concept enough so that it can be appealing and fresh," Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot told Kotaku.

Guillemot offered no details on the two games, but said innovation is key to keeping the fanbase interested.

"Really, what we see is that we can have the capacity to regularly come with innovation," Guillemot said. "That is, for me, the formula: if you can really change the game on a regular basis and bring in innovation your fans want a product very regularly. Our job is to make sure the teams have enough power, enough energy and enough time to take the necessary steps to create a high quality game." Analysis

As Ubisoft moves away from current-gen development expect the Assassin's Creed titles to become even more ambitious in their scope.

So Ac 5 and an AC Vita game, most likely.
Not a bad thing necessarily, I at least like the yearly iterations have some obvious progress on multiple fronts.
Their biggest problem is making the formula interesting in each new setting. AS much as I enjoyed AC3, it was a dull place compared to past games, and I believe that's highly thanks to the location and time period. They pick a good place in time that's not been explored much in media (y'know, before the pirate one...), they will have a golden opportunity to continually make better games.

AC and ACII were the high water mark of the series and it has been steadily declining since. Because of that I will take what he said with a grain of salt. I am hopeful for BF as the naval aspect was really the only good thing about ACIII in my eyes but not that hopeful.
