GameStop has announced details of a new trade-in promotion offering its US customers the opportunity to upgrade their Xbox 360 titles to the Xbox One version for a small fee.
The promotion, which is set to be introduced with the launch of Madden NFL 25 later this month, guarantees a minimum $50 worth of credit for a range of selected titles when purchasing the Xbox One version, letting them upgrade to a next-gen version for just $9.99.
Eligible games include Call of Duty: Ghosts, Battlefield 4, Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag, FIFA 14 and Madden NFL 25.
"This is an amazing opportunity for our PowerUp (PUR) members to enjoy their favourite Xbox 360 game until the Xbox One version becomes available," said Bob Puzon, senior vice president of merchandising at GameStop.
"This offer gives PUR members the chance to upgrade their current Xbox 360 game for the new Xbox One standard version of that game for $9.99. This is a great example of how GameStop is helping gamers make the transition to the next generation of consoles economical and seamless."
To qualify for the promotion, members must purchase the Xbox 360 version of the game within 30 days of its initial release, and upgrade to the Xbox One version by December 31, 2013.
It isn't yet known whether GameStop intends to introduce the promotion elsewhere in the world, or whether UK retailers have plans to offer a similar deal.
VideoGamer.com has contacted GAME to ask whether they'll be offering a similar program in the UK.
