Unreal Tournament 3 Features

For:Xbox 360  Also On: PS3PC Release Date: 3 July 2008

What we've been playing this week.

Welcome to VideoGamer.com Plays, our weekly feature where we give you the inside track on what's been whirring in our disc drives this week. We'll be honest (so if we've been playing Superman on the N64 we'll tell you). But if we've been hammering the latest billion-selling blockbuster we'll let you know about that too.

Tom Orry, Editor - Unreal Tournament 3, Xbox 360
I'm not great at online first-person shooters. There must be a switch in my brain that flicks to off when I venture outside of the single-player mode into the online arena. I'm fine against bots, but as soon as I know I'm up against real people I fall to pieces. UT3 on 360 is the latest online shooter to demonstrate my ineptitude. UT3 being as quick as it is, with people flying all over the screen at break-neck speeds, my kills/death ratio isn't pretty. That was until I found a stationary gun turret and mowed down enemies without being challenged for a good five minutes. It's cheap, lame, noobish and probably quite unsporting, but if no one is going to come along and shoot me in the back, I'm going to stay there.

Wesley Yin-Poole, Deputy Editor - Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo HD Remix open beta, Xbox 360
As regular readers will know, I'm a massive Street Fighter fan, so anything Ryu related is bound to get my beat-em-up juices flowing, including a beta with only two playable characters that keeps crashing my 360. I'm talking, of course, about the recently opened HD Remix beta, which is keeping my fighting cockles warm while I wait for Street Fighter 4. Yes it crashes my 360 every now and again, yes there's only Ryu and Ken to play with, but it still provides the best online 2D fighting experience around. And, since every second I pump into the beta is helping developer Backbone improve the quality of the net code, things can only get better.

James Orry, News Editor - Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo HD Remix open beta, Xbox 360
So, after watching Tom spend entire bouts stuck in the corner of the screen failing to pull off special attacks and get thoroughly humiliated, I tore the controller from his hands to show him how to play. Our game room had seen Wes on an 8 match unbeaten run and I was going to allow him to get up close and personal with the floor. Yeah, right. It turns out that by the end of the night I'd not only managed to get my arse handed to me, but get the floor's phone number.
