VideoGamer.com Plays May 20, 2012
The games we've been playing this week.
Tom Orry, Editor - Trials Evolution, XBLA
So, I'm as boring as ever. I dabbled with the Spec Ops The Line demo for about 20 minutes, but most of my free gaming time has been spent with Trials Evo. I'm currently sat at 133 medals, just two away from the next unlock. Having given up trying to gold everything I've moved on to the mini-games and the tournaments, mopping up bronzes and the odd silver. I'm sure I'll hit a wall at some point, forcing me to give up, but for now I'm always making progress and enjoying every infuriating moment I spend with Trials. While other games might be more complex or larger scale, Trails Evo is currently my favourite game of 2012.
Neon Kelly, Deputy and Features Editor - Hitman Sniper Challenge, PS3, Xbox 360
I need to hold my hands up on this one: I was wrong about Hitman Sniper Challenge. When it suddenly appeared, out of the blue, it seemed to be a further sign that IO Interactive was taking Hitman away from the subtlety and wit that defined the series in its previous instalments. To be blunt, it looked like a brainless, long-range shooting gallery.
Well, I eat my words. It is a long-range shooting gallery, but one that's been built with a very smart design. Brief though it may be, it requires precision, careful timing, and even a few flashes of murderous creativity. It also really tests your powers of observations, to the extent that it occasionally feels like Where's Wally: Nutter With a Gun Edition. It maybe a freebie (pre-order aside), but it's actually a well-designed little distraction that'll occupy you for an hour or two.
Martin Gaston, Reviews Editor - Diablo III, PC
Look, I don't normally like making my VG Plays a game I've been reviewing that week, but this week I've just been playing Diablo 3. As in, I have just been playing Diablo III. It's been a bit of a rocky start, and that's frustrating, but do you know what else galls me? The box art for the third game isn't nearly as good as the second. The second game was a terrifying skeletal face succumbing to the forces of evil, and the third game just makes the Lord of Terror look a bit like he's a Prothean out of Mass Effect. Poor show!
But, yes, Diablo III is a great game and it reminds me how fortunate I am that my job allows me to sit around on my bum all week and play Diablo III during the day, not just because the servers currently tend to fall to pieces as soon as regular people come back from work at about 6pm. I'm taking my main character (a Wizard named Ozz) through Nightmare difficulty at the moment, and I'm still enjoying it a second time through.

Also been playing a lot of Tekken 6 over the last few weeks and no doubt I'll be playing even more this week. It's become a regular event every lunch time at work and so far I'm the champ :) Sometimes I get the urge to get back into the Tekken tournament scene again but I'm getting too old to take it that seriously. Stll, 24 online matches over the weekend and not one loss...feeling good.

Although I love Warhawk, Starhawk still surprised me with how good the online multiplayer actually turned out to be. Great fun, if a little frantic.

I found it completely by chance just after it was first released, in a small shop in London. Took a chance on it, and loved it back then. Working my way through some of the mods that have been put out over the years - some people have good imaginations (well... inspired by the film Hackers and Mission: Impossible, I guess... ;))

Also played some of the original mario galaxy, I finished mario galaxy 2 but never got round to getting the first complete, 113 stars, but the luigi sprite 100 purple coin mission is really annoying.

This week, mostly Minecraft 360. It truly is magnificent, and split-screen local co-op turns it from a good game into an incredible one.
I also have spent more time than I expected to in Sonic 4 Episode 2, mainly because I am enjoying it and am genuinely surprised to find that others aren't. For me, it is the best since Sonic 2.
I wasn't going to buy VVVVVV on 3DS, because of... you know... £7.20. But then I found out about it also containing 18 additional worlds, and that was excuse enough to buy it for me!
Also, grats to Reynoldio and Mrs.

Had she been a boy she'd have been called Neon Arthur...

I've given up on Trials and Witcher 2 at the moment. I can see myself coming back to trials, I cant say the same for Witcher 2.
EDIT: Diablo has been down for almost 2 hours :( Still not up.

Other than that, I bought my first PC game in years (so as to add a couple of mods and place the entire bundle in a wrapper for use with my mac: Terraria. The Obsidian mod especially seems to add a lot of new weapons and a whole slew of new environment/block/decorations (based on Ice).
Two of the most addictive games of recent times, and I get hooked as I enter my critical period for my thesis. It's not even funny! :p

Side note: The multiplayer is surprisingly fun.

Diablo III: 27 hours and 15 minutes (My new love)
Diablo II: Lord of Destruction: 16 hours and 20 minutes (My old love)
Minecraft: 1 hour and 2 minutes (Not me, it was my daughter)
Inkball: 15 minutes (Testing out Raptr functionality)
I've also bought a new mouse, the last one died of left-clickitis. Thanks, Diablo. So whilst I was at it I splashed out on a new mousemat with a wrist support spongy thingy, highly recommended.
