Tiger Woods PGA Tour 08 Features for Xbox 360

On: Xbox 360PS3PCWiiDSPS2PSP

Welcome to VideoGamer.com Plays, our weekly feature where we give you the inside track on what's been whirring in our disc drives this week. We'll be honest (so if we've been playing Superman on the N64 we'll tell you). But if we've been hammering the latest billion-selling blockbuster we'll let you know about that too.

I'm not usually someone who gets overly excited. I talk about games with friends but rarely do I force something on them to the extent that has happened with Braid. It's a combination of wanting to be able to talk about the puzzles with someone and the fact that it's such a good game that everyone should play it. I'm ashamed to say that I basically bullied one friend into cashing in 1200 MS Points for the time warping platformer. It's a game I just can't stop thinking about. I love games that you can play alone or with the help of others and Braid is perfect for that. Get some friends over and get them to solve some of the trickier puzzles. I guarantee they'll leave feeling smarter than when they arrived.

I'm sorry, I still haven't sorted out my bust RroD Xbox 360. BUT! Fear not! Constant nagging, a solid, Spock-esque argument and a loud, shouty-down voice has eventually had the desired effect - our fearless leader Tom has caved and funded a brand spanking new Xbox 360 Elite. Yesterday, I had to travel all the way to Lewisham, south east London, to get one (can you believe the Croydon branch didn't have any Elites?!) and now I'm back in business baby. I'll still have to get my borked 360 fixed though, via MS customer support, and gratefully submit it to the office collection as part-exchange in the deal. And, almost as if fate was helping me along, Capcom has just released a patch for the SSF2THHRemix, sorting online play and bringing Ken back down to earth. So long life...

Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved 2 screenshot

James Orry, New Editor - Geometry Wars 2, Xbox 360
After putting in far too many hours alone with Geometry Wars 2, I felt confident going into a lunchtime multiplayer session with our Editor Tom. Deputy Editor Wez and newly appointed Previews Editor Neon (yeah it's his real name). Things didn't exactly get off to a flying start though, having confused my craft with Tom's. Thankfully I had this figured out before I'd fallen too far behind. To be honest the competition was between myself and Tom and somewhat controversially (stopping the game once I'd made it into the lead) I won. Being the News Editor I don't get to play all that many games, so I'll take whatever victory I can get.

Neon Kelly, Previews Editor - SoulCalibur IV, PS3
There's something very special about the feeling you get from hitting your friend in the face with an axe... provided that you do it within the confines of a video game, of course. This week I've been delighted by the violent carnage of SoulCalibur IV: Citizens On Patrol. Mitsurugi and co have never looked better, and while I'm not personally convinced about the inclusion of the Star Wars characters, Darth Vader's story mode is unintentionally hilarious. Other than that it's business as usual for the series: ridiculous characters, brilliantly over-the-top moves and the infamous announcer, bleating on about "the stage of history". I was a bit gutted about the fact that Namco seem to have abandoned the cheesy pop songs they used to put over their intro, but trouncing Wes in the versus mode was enough to make me feel better.

What have you been playing this week? Let us know in the comments section below.

As soon as i get my xbox back it's Soul Calibur 4 night! Any of the VG staff want to take the fight online one week?

Me? I'm playing COD4, WoW, Mass Effect (LOVE IT! Just finished the Bringing down the sky.....was quite a waste but severly wounding the Batarin and leaving him for dead was quite funny)

Turning a console off once you get into the lead is an excellent tactic, highly recommended! Whacking Wes around with a big axe during your probabtion probably isn't a great idea, but wear that "I beat Wes at SCIV" badge with pride until he gets his payback. Welcome to the site :) If your PS3 ever snuffs it try the Jedi Mind Trick on Tom as Wes has already played the Spock card and his defences will be up.

I'm now on disc 3 of Lost Odyssey, the end of disc 2 is one of those 'most memorable boss fight music' moments in gaming lore so I've saved that section so I can replay it over and over until I'm sick of it. I'm told the end of disc 4 is just as exciting so that's given me the incentive to slog through the rest of it.

I'm going to have to download the Braid demo now to see what everyone's on about, have a good weekend!
