The Witcher developer CD Projekt is set to announce its "second triple-A RPG in development" during a press conference taking place tomorrow, the studio told Eurogamer.

The briefing will take place at 5pm BST on Facebook.

The new game exists in a "brand new setting" and is thought to feature guns – the listing for the game on CD Projekt's website has a gun icon.

Despite the appearance of console versions of The Witcher: Rise of the White Wolf at an online retailer, CD Projekt says it won't be announcing The Witcher 1 for consoles at the conference.

However, CD Projekt has said it has a The Witcher surprise lined-up in the second half of 2012.

Oh, I get that the same was true of W2, dudester, but it just felt far too clunky to me (personally).

Either way, that single screenshot released in anticipation of tonight's announcement has worked its magic on me... despite feeling a bit burned by Wither 2, I cannot wait to find out more about the new project.

I wouldn't say much better but different to the second from what I remember the levelling was better from the first game the combat is very different you had the two sword types but three stances so lots of enemies you would use group, then there was quick and strong. Different enemies needed different types of attack, even something not particularly challenging could kill you off if you didn't know how to attack it. Also the attacks were very much about timing and chaining them together.

I hear that the first game is much better than The WItcher 2 (with a much more involved mutagen system)... I *might* have checked it out... had it not been an incorrect rumour (unless that's the surprise - it really is! ;))

its probably the right decision the witcher wasn't exactly pretty on pc so I think consoles would look even worse plus not sure the combat would translate well to pad.
