The Vin Diesel action title was pencilled in for late 2007, but Midway has now confirmed a new 2008 date.
Midway's Wheelman starring Hollywood hard man Vin Diesel has been shown off in trailer form for some time now, but the actual game is yet o make its debut to press.
The lack of in-game action is usually a sign that development isn't going exactly to schedule and therefore it came as no surprise when Midway announced the title had slipped from its planned 2007 release.
Midway now expects the car-based action title to hit stores in the first half of 2008, with Midway's CEO David Zucker noting that the extra time will be used to "turn this ultimate car chase game into what we expect will be a broad-impact, top-notch title".
Midway isn't short of high-profile titles though, with John Woo's Stranglehold, Unreal Tournament 3 and Blacksite all lined up for 2007.
