Bethesda has released the debut trailer for Dawnguard, the first major expansion pack due to be released for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.

Heading exclusively to Xbox Live this summer, Dawnguard features a brand new questline that pits a society of winged vampires against a group of vampire hunters.

The trailer suggests that you'll get to choose to play as a member of either group - but really, who isn't going to choose to side with the vampires?

The expansion pack will cost 1600 Microsoft Points, with a release on PlayStation 3 and PC expected to follow once Microsoft's timed-exclusivity period expires.

Bethesda says that more info on Dawnguard will be revealed at E3 next week.

I'm fairly excited for the Dawnguard expansion, the trailer looks good but I haven't played Skyrim for a while, since then Bethesda have added a decent amount of content, more slow-mo action kill cams, kinect support and hopefully mounted combat will be out by the time this expansion is out.

I doubt it; what with how update currently work on the Xbox. I'll just have to wait and pick this up once it releases on the PC. Looks promising from the little we know about it so far.

Maybe they'll do a Bethesda Bargain - £39.99 nets you the DLC for just 800 MSP and early access to patches?

Yeah, that 'first on Xbox' thing might work out like a beta tester scheme for Microsoft fans.

Considering Bethesda's recent track record for bugs I'm quite wary of that 1600 MSP price tag. I might wait 3 patches after its launch and then pick it up.

This is a pretty good trailer - Bethesda tend to do pretty good trailers. Playing naughty looks like it's much more fun than playing nice, too. I hope it lasts a good long while, also.
