Ron Gilbert's puzzle-platformer gets firm release date on XBLA, PSN, Wii U and Steam.

The Cave will release in Europe next Wednesday, January 23, on PlayStation Network, Xbox LIVE Arcade, Steam and the Wii U eShop, SEGA has announced.

Double Fine's side-scrolling platform adventure, which was created by Monkey Island creator Ron Gilbert, follows seven characters on a Metroidvania adventure through a magical cave, and sees players switching between characters to solve puzzles and progress.

The game is due to cost £9.99 on PSN, Steam and Wii U, and 1200 Microsoft Points on Xbox LIVE Arcade.

We went hands with The Cave late last year, before sitting down to have a chat with creator Gilbert about being a "total pessimist" and life at Double Fine following its Kickstarter success.

Surely that should be the main reason to be interested in any game, that and time travelers and monkeys.

Now this, (if it reviews well VG I will be getting). Is it wrong of me, that the main reason I'm interested in this game is simply because it has knights and time travellers?
