Namco Bandai's Test Drive Unlimited 2 has entered the All Formats All Prices UK video game chart at No.1, pushing Dead Space 2 down to second.

Test Drive Unlimited 2 becomes Namco Bandai's first All Formats No.1 since its acquisition of Atari Europe.

The sequel is also the biggest launch in the franchise, with more than double the launch week total of the previous title. Sales were heavily skewed in favour of the Xbox 360 version, accounting for 68 per cent, compared to 28 per cent on PS3 and four per cent on PC (digital sales not included).

Retailer promotions also helped GTA4: Complete Edition jump back into the Top 10, while Madden NFL 11 touched-down at No.14 in the week following the Super Bowl.

VideoGamer.com Analysis

It's been over three and a half years since the release of Test Drive Unlimited, in which time the installed-base for the Xbox 360 has grown significantly. Therefore it's no surprise to see Unlimited 2 notch up double the launch week sales, especially given its multi-format launch this time around - the first game debuted only on Xbox 360.

While Namco Bandai must be pleased with the performance of TDU2, the situation isn't as rosy with the publisher's other new releases. Ben 10 Ultimate Alien Cosmic Destruction is new at No.17, but Kinect exclusive Dr Kawashima's Body and Brain Exercises could manage only No.26 on the Xbox 360 chart - perhaps it'll be a grower.

Friday's big release is Capcom's Marvel vs. Capcom 3. We predict the brawler will smash its way to the top, but don't expect sales to come anywhere close to the success of Street Fighter IV.

Where's your review, guys?!

I've been playing it for days, nd despite the server problems that have happened which could have easily been avoided, I'm glad to see it doing so well! Eden Games apparently have a robust DLC lineup planned, and I've got a fair few suggestions of slight changes and additions I would love to see, but I'm interested to see your thoughts oon the core experience.

Also, don't forget, come tonight (hopefully), there shall be a vg.com Community-centric club formed! Details forthcoming. ;)

"...the first game debuted only on Xbox 360"

That's not quite true, it came out on the PC as well. And the (gamespy-powered)-online was a trainwreck in the first few weeks.
