Midway's European MD Martin Spiess thinks the game's $30 million budget makes it the most expensive next-gen title.

Speaking to GamesIndustry.biz, Spiess has revealed that the publisher's $30 million investment in Stranglehold will pay off.

"[Stranglehold cost] around USD 30 million, so it's possibly the most expensive next-generation game in development to date," said Spiess. "The early indications from retail and the consumers are there, so it is going to pay off."

In order to recoup the huge $30 million investment the game will need to sell a lot of units and Spiess does not believe this will be a problem, going as far as to say the game "will be the top selling title this Christmas".

That's a bold claim considering the competition that will be around come Christmas. We'll have much more on Stranglehold over the coming weeks.
