BTW, Lucasarts hasn't released about 20 Star Wars titles for the PC. I really loved the first Pod Racer, but we never got the second. And how about Obi-wan, the game that was supposed to be the "spiritual successor" for Jedi Knight. Never saw the PC either.

Someone is obviously lying. I imagine they are mostly concerned about piracy, but just don't want to admit it. I for one will not be purchasing this game unless they release a PC version, which is sad because I would really like to play it. But I'd rather put my money into some good PC games instead.

Yeah, cause I'm sure you've done TONS of software development.
Quick test:
How do you calculate a vertex normal? Do you even know what that is? Don't bother answering we both know you're full of it and that you'll likely just look it up somewhere.
I really am a software developer, I do graphics library programming on my spare time and commercial software at my job. I can tell you wholeheartedly that you're full of shit. Your comment definitely would have been 100% truth back in the days of DOS. I remember that clearly, can you? Having to write your own video 'drivers' (try getting 800x600x8 on an old tseng or paradise svga card, without VESA, lots of fun).
There are issues to be sure, with a mix and match set of hardware you're going to run into it. But have you actually spoken with people who've done PS3 development? I have, and it's a nightmare. Console games are not without problems either, crashes, hardware failures, etc... and that's not getting any better.
@Tobboggan:
Keep dreaming child. There's always been a very active console piracy scene. It's all about money and nothing more (although their attitude is incredibly stupid, the ROI is not as far apart as they make it sound). Of course, you're probably just a console fanboy trying to troll the PC users.
@Lucasarts:
Please don't ever publish another PC game. Your games have been awful since Grim Fandango. Seriously, you're doing us a favor. Send your garbage to the console where it belongs. I encourage everyone to ensure that Lucasarts sees 0 sales on their next PC port/title.

For one, console games are pirated just as much as PC games, not only by other console users, but by PC users as well using emulators. That's why many p2p sites have console games downloads.
With scalability, or 'dumbing down' of the game, as others stated it is a fact of pc games even since the DOS days, and adding in the options to do it from a programming standpoint really isn't that difficult. For example, the Havok engine already has the means to limit the number of 'parts' for something breaking off or flying through the air (less items to render means less resources needed for the slower pcs) and programming a little slider option for that is a piece of cake. Also keep in mind, they are already making the game on PCs as that is what consoles are, they're just keeping it simple and without options for customizing as found in PC games.
Regarding cost for PC or upgrading, as already stated, $4000 is ludicrous, reality is about $600. For me, while I could buy a whole pc for that $600, I'd rather use that money to upgrade the one I already have with even faster parts. I saw Klein mentioned difficulties with FEAR, I don't know why he had so much trouble. Maybe videocard is a lowend 6800 or the fact that he's trying to run at 1680x resolution? My PC has a slower CPU with only a P4-2.8 GHz 1 GB RAM and my videocard is only a 6800 GS (AGPx8, not even PCI-Ex) and I had no problem running FEAR (at 1280x1024). Of course if he was trying to have full AA and AF, that would also cause low performance, but with such outdated hardware (about 5 years old?) that goes without saying.
I agree LA has really been going downhill in the eyes of the PC gaming world, for a number of years now. It even started before they let Sony Online (another company that doesn't listen to their consumers) completely ruin SWG. It is seeming more and more like LA has no value on the loyalty of their customers, and in business that is a big no-no. One of the biggest things I learned about business is a happy customer is a repeat customer, and if you provide a good product and support to your customer, they will be happy. Well, with this downhill trend of theirs and especially with this latest landslide, LA is alienating almost their entire PC market and making us all extremely unhappy.
Anyways, I've typed too much already. The last console I personally owned was a Nintendo NES and while I have played friends consoles a few times over the years, I have no intention of buying one for myself as I have my PC and it's a much better gaming platform with more intuitive and customizable controls, options, and usability. If I'm going to spend $600, it sure as hell would not be on a console with its awkward controls, low resolution graphics (have they even started making console games at 1024x?), lack of customize-ability, and it not being useful for anything else. I could spend that same $600 into upgrading my current PC and it would be well more than sufficient to play something like TFU with everything maxed out, and at a higher resolution, more intuitive controls, and still everything else that PCs are good for.
So, after about 15 years of loyalty in buying PC games from LA, if they do not come out with a PC version of this game (and not just some lame console port over), I'm afraid they've lost me as a consumer as well. I'm sorry this post got so long, but this annoys me.
