You'd be hard pressed to find a film license that has spawned more video games than Star Wars. If you took the time to count them all (and I don't advise doing so, it takes ages), you'd find well over 100, covering just about every console and genre you could imagine. Unfortunately, many of these titles aren't worth the time of day, but equally, there are some truly fantastic games hiding amongst the shovel-ware. The games below are of that second category; the ten best Star Wars games of all time.

Episode 1: Racer

There's simply no denying it; Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace was a bad film. It did, however, have two redeeming features: one was the impossibly cool double-ended lightsaber, and the other was Pod racing. Episode 1: Racer was a Nintendo 64 game (and later Dreamcast) built around the second of these features; an arcade racer that allowed players to pilot vehicles made out of space scrap, with an overall experience fitting somewhere in between Wipeout and Mario Kart.

Needs more Battlefront. Needs more Rogue. Needs less FPS.

And HOW IN THE BLUE HELL have you not included the Daddy of them all, the original arcade game? Still sublime to this day!

That was Rogue Squadron (or, before that, Shadows of the Empire)

The sequel on Gamecube, Rogue Leader, was even better and Rogue Squadron III Rebel Strike wasn't quite as hot due to the on foot bits, but did let you play splitscreen dogfights between X-wings and Tie Fighters over the Deathstar. Plus it had the whole of Rogue Leader as a co-op game.

The unofficial sequel to the Squadron series was the Clone Wars game which used the same engine. It's pretty good too but not a patch on the earlier games.

Still, Leader and Strike are better than a lot of the games here.

The alternate ending on Ep 3 was cool!

Should've done a top 15 - can't miss out Battlefront, Rouge Leader or the Vector Graphics arcade version to name a few!

almost forgot about the Trilogy Arcade by Sega

This so needs to be released on PSN/XBLA!

What about, Episode 3, the game on PS2. Loved it! Plus you could have it so that Anakin killed Obi Wan.

Errr, where's Star Wars: Battlefront 1&2? Both titles sold bucket-loads and were for me, amazing fun.

Dude, I think there's a page missing. I couldn't find Rogue Squadron?

What! Where the hell is Rogue Leader? Surely that's up in the top 5 at least! One of the best releases on the Gamecube and one of the best Star Wars games ever.
